How do you remove front lip from the 8?
i want to remove the front stock black lip (not the appearance package air dam) from the underside of the front bumper. anyone do this, or know what it takes to get it off? do i need to remove the whole bumper?

Yup.
Remove the bolts under the bumper where you made them red arrows then
remove the ones on the top.
Next no need to remove the plastic under your wheel well facing front only (PITA$$) just the screw things holding it to your font bumper.
Remove side marker screw. No need to unplug your side markers.
and right about now your front should look like this and should take about 15min for first time.
**CAUTION** you might want some one to help you as the part of your front bumper thats meets your side markers is cliped in and can scratch your front lights!

Did you...SEARCH????????
I took mine off to put the appearance package lip spoiler on, so I did have to remove the bumper, which is really simple, but I don't think you have to take the bumper off just to remove that lip.
Otherwise, I think that lip helps to hold the whole under-car spoiler/splashgaurd, so I'm not sure you can drive around without it, unless you take the other stuff off with it.

Pull the front bumper. It's extremely easy and a lot easier to work on. I pulled mine for the first time the other day, it took 5-8 minutes. Less to put it back on. While it was off, I was able to clean everything I wouldn't have otherwise been able to reach.

Right, I believe it acts as a support for the splash guard. And if you do take the guard off with it, it may adversely affect air flow through the radiator, possibly resulting in overheating (not to mention exposing the radiator to FOD).

well of course I searched (do you honestly think I of all people WOULDN'T???), checked the stickies and thd manual. Show me where on this site that my question is directly answered. And before this i would have no reason to take the bumper off, smart guy.
But thanks anyway, nimrod.

I can assure you, the bumper does NOT have to come off. I have replaced all of the black plastic on the front, and under tray, and did it all with the bumper securely in place.
if you are removing the under tray, it helps to take the two front wheels off, there are connections behind the wheel that are rough to get to with the wheel in place. the air dam is pretty easy, mostly just screws that embed into clips in the painted bumper.
