how effective are group buys ?
Anyone have any prior experience with group buys or even internet buys with MAZDA? ( I'm assuming internet buys are only good for more common/popular cars? )
I wonder just how effective a group buy would be, considering I'm ready to pre-order it. Though I'm hoping to get it at msrp.
Anyone with experience or knowledge in this area with Mazda please leave some comments =)

i pre-ordered a yellow WRX in Dec 2000 and got it the second week it came out. unfortunately i wasnt able to participate in a group buy that i-club.com had going on. those who did group buy, bought their WRXs for $500 over invoice. i think if we have enough people to group buy, we can probably arrange something. On R&T, they say Mazda wants to be competitive, so if we find the right dealership, I'm sure we can pull something off.
so who's in on it now?

Group buys can be effective if structured right. I wonder if dealer allocation will play a part in any group buy. If you get say 10 people that go in on a group buy, but the dealer is only allocated say 4 cars a month it could be a problem.
I wonder how plentiful the cars will be at the dealers to start with
