The answer is 62 days. On my way home from work I'm about to turn right. The guy behind me decides its better to look left at the oncoming traffic than it is to look ahead to see if I'm still there. Thanks dude. It wasn't bad, but I need a new bumper. Question is, do I have a shop replace it, or just order it myself and do the work? Anybody replaced the bumper before? Very hard? Its a 2011, btw.

take it to a shop so they can verify nothing else was bent or damaged. It sounds like he'll be 100 percent at fault so you'll have a nice little rental car to drive around in while your car is being repaired and not have to pay for anything.

Is the title of the thread a rhetorical question? I've driven mine for much longer without being in a single accident...
Of course people have replaced the bumper! Search around. I'm sure you'll find a few threads on it.
And I agree with laythor. There may be damage to the structure of the vehicle, or other damage

Never had an accident ever since i bought the rx8 in 07. My wife and i never had an accident ever since we moved here in Vegas in 04. That is a very good record, i'll say, and our insurance is pretty low indeed.

I fell off my bicycle against the drivers door of my 04 6sp a few weeks ago in the driveway. Did considerable damage to the drivers door. It's in the body shop right now getting fixed. Freak accident. It happens. I've had the car from new and not a scratch until now.

I had a similar incident getting hit & run in a parking lot. It cost me $625 out of pocket to get a new bumper from Mazda, one tailpipe surround (I see the 2011 doesn't have same) and to get it locally painted (removal/reinstallation myself).
It's pretty easy to remove and replace the bumper; see the "rear bumper DIY."

btw: make sure that the bumper subframe and foam are not deformed. The foam in particular is a one time use first line of defense.

Yeah, I got a recommendation on a good body shop in town that is going to do the work since I'm not paying for it. That way I can just be sure and its all covered. But they can't get me in until Sept 6th, so now its a waiting game.
