I really like my car, but if I really like the new Camaro/Challenger/Supra, especially if I can get a V8 Camaro with the fuel technology that gets 30 mpg highway like they are talking about, I might trade it. Or, if I can't get a handle on these increasingly arising mystery rattles.

Only as long as I have to......Mazda and their ****** brake squeal problems that can never be fixed

You know how embarrassing it is to come to a stop in traffic in a freshly washed and waxed, beautifully shinning RX8 and have everyone look over because the brake squeal was so ****** loud.....then the next stop the same thing....again....again.....

Then take it to the dealership and have them tell you "you have the redesigned pads already" and "we have other complaints, but Mazda doesn't have a fix yet"

Put a helmet and some racing gloves on and pretend its a exotic race car.

Maybe the helmet will drown out the squealing noise

For a very long time!!! My intention would be, if I have a place for it, to keep it until I drop dead.

928 S or S4? When they came out with the 32-valver for '87 that was my favorite car. But, when I could finally afford a used one, the astronomical repair/maintenance scared me away for good.

To answer the thread, I'd love to have a rotary collection starting with my FD, RX-8 and on down the line. Don't think that when the new 7 arrives that there'll be garage space unfortunately, so the 8 will have to go . But, the '93's a keeper forever; I'll sell some organs if I'm that strapped for cash, but the car stays.

upgrade to ventilated rotors. that happens because brake dust gets caught in the pad. with the ventilated rotors, no dust would get caught, and your car will be squeal free .

just some FYI if you didn't already know.

I believe the OE rotors are ventilated.....just not cross-drilled or slotted.

I got a brand new RX8 so that I wouldn't have to repair anything for a few years. I have 6,000 miles on the car!!! Even if I planned on keeping it and eventually upgrading the brakes......there is still no excuse for a brand new car to sound like a 1984 Caravan when it comes to a stop. And there's certainly no excuse for the manufacturer of that car to not have a solution.

I'm planning on going for 200,000 miles.

Hey...ya buy a good car, one that you won't get tired of...and ya keep it a long time. Simple, eh?

If I manage to get 200K out of my 8, it will have been an OUTSTANDING value (and a fun ride).

I will keep my baby 8 for long time, unless if skyline in 08 is actually worth it. Then I'd might trade it in.

Haha, thats funny because earlier today my fiances Dad said he would buy my car if I wanted to get rid of it. He told me that he wanted to buy my car in the next 3 to 4 years so Im already thinking if I should or not? He wants to add my Rx8 to his little car collection, which already consists of a: 2002 Z06 Corvette and a modded 1994 Integra.

Perfectly said! I always feel like, if you don't get *at least* 100k miles out of a car, you haven't gotten your money's worth.

with the rate i'm going, i'm gonna rack up 100k miles about the same time i pay off my car note in about 4 more years... lol

and it does feel like i'm beginning to see me driving this car for the long haul... think of this way, it'll be at least 4 years before i have to go through the hassle of dealing with car dealers, that's 4 years of peace of mind lol
