I have had two 8's and have changed the oil ever 2,500 or less and have never had any probs. Some will tell you that your not getting your moneys worth blah blah blah B.S. Just keep up on the oil pre-mix and keep an eye on your idle / plugs also redline your 8 and your 8 will love you

LOL @ listening to a "MAZDA" manual.
7500 miles? LOL
I change my oil every 3 months, regardless of mileage. One 3 month period back then, i only put 125 miles on it and i still changed it.
Theres no harm nor a rule that states you shouldnt. Its cheap, easy to do and your engine can ALWAYS use fresh oil.

1st change: 100 mi. ... Don't laugh!
2nd change: 500 mi.
3rd change: 1000 mi.
4th 3000
5th + every 3000
This is only my opinion. I think the first one at 100 miles is the most important because of the break-in. With my new engine I followed this routine. When I removed the oil at 100 mi. it was very dark and had the shimmering content of metal particles.
I changed it at 500 and the oil was much clearer but since it was still a fresh engine, I thought it a good idea to keep it as clean as possible. The change at 1000 was probably not really needed but since I wanted to make sure the break-in process was as good as could possibly be, I did it anyway. 3000 is it magic number in my book with regular driving to and from work and road trips.
If I track, I change the oil much more frequently and try to change it before and after an event. I know this is over kill but the one thing I want to make sure I do with this engine is to give it every chance to be clean inside.
If you change it yourself, it's pretty cheep to do. If I were having someone else do it, I wouldn't do it as frequently. Call me obsessive but I just like clean oil.
Also, I'm running 20w50 in the summer and 10w40 in the winter. I'm not comfortable with Mazda's suggested 5w20 or 7500 miles at all.
