Have an 04 MT with 112K plus change. No major issues, still on 1st engine (knock on wood).. Ive replaced the alternator, clutch and paint 
.. Along with other cosmetic stuff such as replaced scratched console etc...

LOL, This is crazy. It does come back every once in a while for maybe a few seconds and goes away. I haven't seen it happen in nearly a year and two weeks ago I was in Oxford at a Track Meet and I parked by the Colosseum and when I went back to my car it did it. Maybe its Oxford?
I always assumed it was something the previous owner did while he was installing the head unit.
Oh and what colisseum are you speaking of?

04 MT GRand touring, 62,789 miles. New tranny at 40K. miscellaneous leaks throughout the powertrain over the past 2 years, most covered under warranty.

04 AT 31k replaced engine.
Also, what does she consider money pit?
The plugs and coils will need to be replaced every 30k or so... not a LOT of money really.... but some folks might not like that extra expense.
