how many people....
how many of you guys have gotten rid of your rx8 or are planning on selling it/trading it in because you did not like the car? just curious.
my opinion: very fun high revving car with a unique hate it or love it look/design... ride is a little bumpy for my taste though. oh, and wish the stock exhaust didnt sound like a puney motorcycle or jet

Sometimes, I would think, it'd be nice to sell the 8 and get something very different like the new Civic Hybrid, so I save huge on gas, and insurance, and brand new vs a 2004 car .... but then, I am just so addicted to the 9,000 beeps ... I would like to keep my 8 forever.

When I had the car the first month I really thought about getting rid of it just because I was use to getting 450+ miles on a 16 gallon tank instead of 250-285 miles but in the end I fell in love with the amazing handling and looks.
I figured out that really I'm only spending a few hundred dollars a year more on gas (no biggie).

what kind of sports car will give you smooth ride ?
sound like a motorcycle ..... ? Rotary always sound like that.

I think that the ride is very smooth. The car is comfortable and fast for cruising.
Blasting around in the upper RPM range is still a thrill.
The car comes with your own personal mod bug... It costs more than the gas...
My issues are with the poor dealer experience; "I'm sorry sir but we couldn't reproduce the problem" (still not as bad as Honda dealer) and the mileage.
That said, I'd get another if something happened to this one.

Just check the numbers in the "Satisfaction Survey" sticky: over 90% of owners are either "somewhat" or "highly" satisfied," with nearly 74%—that's 3 out of 4 owners—"highly satisfied".
Only 6%—a mere 6 owners out of a 100—are "somewhat" or "highly dissatisfied". (Though I suspect they account for a lot more than 6% of the posts here, lol.)

My 8 does everything well. It goes, stops and handles just the way I like and I can pick up my children and their friends when I need to. You can carve corners, or go touring with it like a prince. Keep the tupperware off it, and you can even show up at a black tie affair and not be embarrassed.
At under 30K, there is no greater value in a performance car anywhere.

I like my car a lot. But I do sometimes have thoughts to get a more practical (quick) car other than the 8. The rotary to me seems to be not so (everyday - practical) engine. To me a rotary performs a lot better at a track. Stop and go traffic just doesn't help carbon build-up.
Sometimes I think of getting a MS3 for the practicallity, but also it gives me good performance. The best of both worlds.
Sometimes I think of selling the car because it is not my daily driver, and I don't take it to work much because I drive a lot of miles every day to and back from work. Gas prices do not help.
So I'm paying quite a bit per month for something that I don't use much? I do take it out on weekends.....

I'm actively planning my RX8's replacement. Honestly, I'd feel better about keeping it if it didn't go through cats and now, the transmission problems. One MAJOR hurdle is: I keep imagining it as a silver version (minus the trunk) of DeeDubb's car. Everytime I see it in my mind, all pimped out, I think "Geesh...that'll be ONE VERY HOT CAR..."
:-/
If I replace it, it'll be with something much less practical.

Cars that may motivate me to trade in the 8 would be:
Cayman S
New GTR
New M3
Lotus Elise
M Coupe
As such, current funds do not allow that. I've already have a practical fairly quick sports wagon (stage II 92x Aero) to haul people and stuff around. The 8 is perfect for my sporting days.

i really dont care about the mpg. I dont buy a car based on what type of mpg it gets. Get into the car, and drive it. Dont think about the little bullshit.
My cars are:
1994 3000gt 5 spd N/A
2005 RX8 GT package 6 spd
2006 FX35 touring package
2005 Altima 2.5s automatic
As far as a smoother ride, G35 is good, Porsche, and BMW. The rx8 feels plasticy. Everything rattles. It does hug the curves, but it isnt a practical daily driver- at all. And as far as the looks, its unique, but as one person said "its like they had a suggestion box for the design and they tried to use as many suggestions as they can"... or something along those lines... http://youtube.com/watch?v=QRiPSlx8PxA
currently selling the FX35 and the RX8.. already sold the mitsu

The only cars that would ever get me out of my 8 would have to have similar handling capabilities and a lot more torque. BMW M3 is the primary one in the price range (under $40k slightly used) that comes to mind.

The ones who can afford to change their car and do not are the ones that really LOVE the 8. Problem is that many of the alternatives cost much more.
Anyway, I still have to get mine so I have not really thought of getting rid of it.

i use it as a daily driver and i love it. About the only car i like more is a Lotus Elize/Exige and i'm not yet able to get one. When I am in a position to buy more car i will consider it but I really enjoy the RX8 right now.
