Besides, more 8's available may equate to greater availability of 3rd party products and replacement parts years down the road. Wouldn't it be a shame if FI kits were no longer developed because there wasn't a large enough market (for the 8 due to it's cancellation) to justify R&D costs?
my .02 anyways

hell no! why would i want to have this car discontinued? sure the value would go slightly up, but only after a long time. make them rarer? they already are rare, i see one about once a day, but compared to seeing 6 Z's and 100 mustangs, im happy about its rarity. this car needs to live longer to really get some more support from the aftermarket.
if they do come out with a 2 seater it wont be an rx-8. it would be an entirely different type of car.

I do prefer it to be discontinue yes, because then my car will be less common. I live in Richmond BC, I have seen quite a few RX-8 in this small area. However, I don't think I agree with the value going up. The RX-7 has been discontinued for a while and I always see them selling at dirt cheap prices, esp FC, probably because they have no A/C ...

No for a lot of reasons. The only one not yet mentioned by anyone is the availability of mechanics. It's hard enough to find good, experienced rotary mechanics at dealerships. How hard do you think it would be if there was no longer a source of new rotary owners? I also agree with the "what if something happens to mine" sentiment.
But here's a chilling thought. What if Mazda kept the RX-8 name but made it lame? Think Charger. Right now I enjoy telling people I have an RX-8. I don't want the reaction to go from Oooooh! to Eeeeeeew!

I think anyone that voted "yes" for the RX-8 to be discontinued should trade in their car for a Geo Metro, and leave the RX-8, and any other sports car for that matter, to the real car enthusiasts.
