How much is my NA 8 worth?

Hi guys! I have been driving my 8 for a while and recently been working on it. I have spent over $16,000 alone on upgrades, parts, and some labor. The 8's engine is very powerful and healthy with the basically whole new everything. I still have the receipts of all the parts and labor as proof. My 2004 Sport RX8 has a CLEAN title and only has 87k. I wish I could keep her and continue upgrading it but my family is going through some tough times and needs the money. I am posting here to see how much my 2004 RX8 is worth to sell as it is? I am hoping to get at least $15,500 if possible for a healthy, fun, special custom painted RX8. I'd like to get some feedback please. I'll have pics up by tomorrow night.

Exterior:
- The exterior has been hand-washed n waxed every weekend. I recently had bodywork and a custom paintjob which is a special paint and the car is basically fresh and new. However there are some minor scratches on the front passenger side from hitting an orange cone and the passenger side headlight has a crack on it.

NEW Special Custom Paintjob - Nissian Skyline Midnight Purple II (Purple/Blue/Teal Pearl) @ 81K
NEW Seibon Carbon Fiber TSII Hood [FLAWLESS CONDITION] @ 81K
NEW Bomex Rear Bumper [FLAWLESS CONDITION] @ 81K
NEW Mazdaspeed Sideskirts [GOOD CONDITION] (some common minor scratches on the bottom of passenger side sideskirts from dips) @ 81K
NEW Abflug Front Bumper with CUSTOM Audi-Style Bright-White LED Foglights [FAIR CONDITON] (common scratches on the bottom from dips but nothing visible from standing) @ 81K

USED Sniper Wing [GOOD CONDITION] [BOUGHT FROM FORUM] (minor scratches not very visible) NOT MOUNTED ONTO TRUNK, USED DOUBLE SIDED TAPE so trunk does not have holes @ 86K
USED Chrome Gas Cover [FLAWLESS CONDITION] @ 60K?

ADD-ON Professionally Tinted 5 Windows
ADD-ON Professionally Installed 8,000K HID Headlights
ADD-ON Debadged and Installed Decepticon Emblems (I still have the original emblems and will include)

Interior:
- The interior is in good condition and well-maintained with many detailing work done. Interior has been kept Armor-All'ed.

NEW Pioneer AVH-P4200 In-Dash DVD Multimedia Unit [RETAIL: $549]
with NEW Pioneer AVIC-U220 Add-On Navigation System [RETAIL: $439]
and NEW Pioneer CD-BTB200 Add-On Bluetooth Hands-free System [RETAIL: $180]
installed with NEW Metra Double-Din Installation Kit [RETAIL: $199]

or I can take all those out n put the stock radio back on if you guys like

Performance:
- I basically replaced/upgraded almost everything and everything is less than 5K miles old. The engine is very strong, is highly maintained, and in very healthy condition.

NEW Mazda Official Sparkplugs (All 4) @ 81K
NEW Mazda Official Ignition Coils (All 4) @ 81K

Where do you live? Would you be willing to sell the Cobb and springs by themselves?

You MAY be able to get your asking price.

The thing with selling modded cars is, they can/ will usually DECREASE the value of the car.
Not saying that no one will purchase your car for your amount...

I'd say, post the add with your asking price. And if you have interest, but no one buys, just lower the price!
But, if you are looking for a quick sale, then I'd say keep it around the $10-$12k price range...

Good luck

You have too many modifications to lists. Sell it on your asking price and see where it goes. If nobody bites, then lower the price. Good luck on selling your car.

These pictures are older pictures without the Wing and Audi Style Headlights showing. Also has the M3 Sidemirrors on, but I took them off and put the stock mirrors back on and painted them as well

All the mods just make the amount of marketable buyers extremely small...

really? :< its really just some minor tuning to get the most out of the NA 8. most of the parts are official mazda parts that I got from the dealer to make it run smoother and have better MPG. It basically runs better than any new NA RX-8s with some extra luxurious sporty add-ons.

Mods only have value in the eyes of owner. A mod that might be worth several thousand to you, isn't worth anything to a person who doesn't want or need that mod. If a person is looking for certain mods, they will be willing to pay extra for a car that has them. Parting it out will get you more money, if you still have the factory parts to put back on.

you will never get 15K out of it.

the simple reason is ----- most buyers does not give a **** about mods. what looks good to you means nothing to someone else. when they want a car They will look at the "car's value", not the mods.

unless you are really lucky that someone who is looking for a RX-8 also likes your mods. you will never get the price you want.

This is the reason why I always tell my friends that if they're going to mod their car, make sure they keep the stock parts so one day when they decided it's time to "move on", at least they can part the parts out and restore the car back to stock to sell it.

GLWS. I'd have to agree with those that are saying you'll never get your price. It's a nice looking car, however, you committed a resale sin by painting it purple (95% of males do not want a purple car). It never hurts to try, all it takes is one buyer who loves it, but don't be shocked if no one knocks at your door, especially for a 2004 that is almost past the 8 year warranty period.

Not to mention that any time you throw the words custom in your description of the car it turns a lot of people off as that usually says "no easy replacement"

Mhmm. but how much would you guys think my car would go for? The bottom line is that the car is well maintained and runs better than new RX8s with recent new tuneups, new vital parts, and some minor reasonable mods.

You can never tell with a modded car. Like soldier said if you want to sell it in the near future 10-12k. If you are willing to wait 8 months to a year you might be able to sell around 15k. But even that is risky. You have to be able to find that one person that has the same taste as you and has the money to buy it. It could never happen. You can always put it up for what you want and see what kind of interest you have in it. I would suggest selling some stuff separate. Like the cobb and springs and midpipe. You will make more that way. And all of those things will sell rather quickly for a decent price. You already have interest in the springs and cobb and heck I would like to have that midpipe.

at most i would pay 11k. and thats being extremely, extremely generous. even though i would buy the car with the intent of modding, i would want to make it my car. with my mods. not yours.

you had better find someone with the exact same taste as you in every single way. so that this is their absolute dream car that they wouldnt trade for $5mil.

good luck

How did you get the MNP paint job? I thought the color code was not given out or something and you had to buy the paint from Nissan.

If your motor is truly healthy, post up a compression test. It will help the sale.

I don't really want to part out cuz the good stuff are basically brand new unopened within the last 3 months and I paid full prices on them :[. Most of the things I did on the car was mazda official replacement parts to make it run better after wear and tear of the engine components. I'll have the compression test up soon. thanks for the opinions I appreciate it

This thread sort of comes off as a thinly veiled sales ad

On that note of it being a sales ad, since the BHR pipe isn't installed and all, would you be willing to let it go?

You will be lucky to get 10k with lowball offers of around 8.

Trust me on this -- your best bet is to go stock and sell off the aftermarket and you can bring up the value of the car and get some of your money back from the aftermarket parts.
Your best bet is to either sell and buy stock or sell aftermarket with stock trade with money on top....

My car is 05 with 55k miles with about 6 grand in parts i couldn't even get 10k for it these past few months -- although it was winter.
