How much for those aluminum side-gill things....?
Just curious, because I'm going to get the rotary accent package and those as well, provided they aren't a million bucks
With the $500 graduation rebate I get, I think I'll just throw it in for the extras I want like those appearance things, the cargo net, and maybe mud guards though I'm not sure about those yet... need to see how they'd look

Are you sure they are going to have the graduation rebate apply to the rx-8??? Plus, if youre just graduating from college, how the hell can you afford an rx-8, unless you already have a salary job lined up...
just jealous... im graduating spring 2004 and i see no way to get an rx-8 within the next 2 years.

herc those things on the side are called "strakes" they are in the new brochure under dealer installed accessories but do not have a price listed. if the dealers don't have a price yet they should soon.

Yeah, I also like those (things on the side vent) called "strakes" ...
But I plan on geting my car in at least a couple of more years, but still I'd like to know the price now, and start planing and saving for the future ...
:p
Wonder why they named them "strakes?"

The strakes are small wings placed upstream a main wing, that are used to modify the downstream vortical flow. A typical application is in agile aircraft (e.g. fighters). The strakes are one of those examples where the interference can be largely beneficial both from the aeodynamic point of view (lift) and control (effects on rolling and bending moments, see below). Similar effects can be achieved with a long leading edge extension (which makes a smooth wing-body combination).
