Pardon my naivette, but why would it be a good thing to redline it, this is my first rotary and frankly, I have always known it to be bad, please educate this dumb Canadian hillbilly, hehe

I'd have to imagine it's hard to redline anything more than 1st and 2nd on a daily basis...unless you have a lot of long open roads around you.
I'd "hit it" as often as possible! :D

In the 8 I like to beep when i can. I took my v-8 piston to 9000 no beep :-(
(specially tuned chevy 350 will go to 10,000 if needed). I like getting in rpm wars with other cars, small town full with people that don't know what a rotary is, needless to say I always win. hehe

I'm a new RX-8 owner here and I've just reached 1600 miles on her. Tonight I beeped her for the first time. What a heart pounding moment that was. At one point while showing off to the local "Fast and Furious" wannabe crowd I accedintally reached 10,000 RPM. I thought the motor was a done for.
Do I have anything to worry about running the engine at 10,000 on accident?

The Revl imiter is at 9350rpm. I go there all the time. In my FB and FC which used to have a rev limiter I would hit 10000rpm, but not often. I was not woried ablut the engine but was concerned about the flywheel. I belive this is the reason for the 9000rpm redline. I have been told the engine is stable to around 13000 rpm at which point harmonics start to damage the engine.
