how often is your 8 in for service?

ive recently realized that my 8 has been in the shop entirely too many times for warranty work, even for a first model year. to be honest ive lost count, but i have to be at least 10 since 1/04. and when it goes in there are always a few issues, not just one. aside from regular maintnence and stuff you did to the car, how often is yours in?

I've had my 8 since 10/04 and it now has about 4k miles. It's been back to the dealer twice: oil change and replace the fuse box lid. Both could have been done in one trip if they'd had the part in stock.

So far, the 8 is a very solid, reliable car for me.

opposite from you kellybrf! Mine's never been in. 20K miles. I just keep changing the oil. What are you doing to your car!? I didn't even bother with the flash upgrades.

Mine has over 35000 miles on it. I take it in for regular service every 5000 miles. The only things other than regular service that I've had taken care of were the two recalls back in '03 and my temperature **** broke. Last time I had it in they gave me the 'N flash.'

mostly stupid, minor ****. however, its currently in for something a bit more troubling (https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/diff-fluid-change-gone-bad-advice-needed-60742/) my friend made a comment about how often its been in today and it got me thinking. most things are related to being a new model, but its just been a lot.

Just brakes and console lid clip... both done during routine oil changes (including flashes of course). So no unexpected inconveniences.

Replaced console lid clip here, and drivers side sun visor. Like others here, all are done during routine oil changes and tire rotations. I'm at 15.5k miles and go in every 3000-3500. Had her since March 2004.

Love this car

1 - CEL - M-Flash
2 - CEL - replaced cat
3 - CEL - N-Flash
4 - Battery
5 - Oil Change/tire rot/starter/hot plugs
All in 4000 miles but I still love her.

Mine has been in twice in the first 5000 miles. Once for installing a missing floormat hook, and another time for an oil change and investigation of an engine noise (which they claim is "normal").

So far I'm happy with the reliability.

I have had my rx-8 in for service about 8 times since I bought it last July. Including 4 times for the break squeal. Two times for the cd player which was not working after I bought it. Then they installed the wrong radio when they replaced it. lol. One time for an oil change/ECU flash. And it will be back again for continued break squeal soon. The vehicle was sitting on the dealer lot for almost a year before I purchased it so some rust seemed to have built up around the inside of the rotors over that time. They placed new rotors on the front but not the rear. So they will likely have to replace the rear as well.

I have had Ford's all my life and this car has had the most quality issues of any I have had over 10 years of buying a Ford/Mazda product.

Smile Maintenance issues

Well, mine is a 06 RX8 and once we got past the 4 times a/the "loose" gas filler cap (and we all remember that fiasco), it's just in for reg. maintenance issues....knock on wood, I've been very, very lucky.

Mine's been in for oil changes, the 4206f reflash, and a couple of wheel alignments. (Damn potholes!) They did the gas cap replacement during one of the oil change visits.

3 years as of this 30th and not ONCE.

Motor stronger than ever, original tires, original brakes - not a squeak or rattle anywhere.

She's a keeper.
