How it SHOULD be..
In my opinion Car Salesman should be like old time doctors that did house calls. You should be able to call them up and have them bring the stuff to you. "Why?" You may ask... Because dealerships SUCK!
I got my 8 back today from the dealer. The did the M code and replaced my front rim that was mangeled since before I purchased the car and did some other stuff.
I had checked the car over and everything looked cool so I went my merry way. As I am driving home the tire inflation light comes on. So... I pull over and check the tires. Sure enough, it is the new tire. Darn thing was going low. AND as I looked I noticed it was not the same kinda tire as the rest of the car. Three of my tires were Dunlop and the new one was a Bridgestone. They apparently just yanked a tire off one of the other 8s on the lot. The diff tire did not annoy half as much as the tire loosing air.
So I call up the dealer to give him a WTF message about this. He tells me, "Just drive it back and we'll fix you up."
Hmmm... First thing was that I was about 30 miles away already. The second thing is what I told him, "Uh... you sold me a car that does not have a spare tire, remember? How do I get there without destroying the rim?"
After a second or two of dead air, "Uh... not sure." Boy did I feel better. NOT!
So... I filled the tire back up and drove back to the dealer. They replaced the tire but it was just kinda the whole point. I had a perfectly good tire on the old rim... In order to save time they just grabbed anything they could see. Also annoying that they did not check the tire brand.
I now have four Dunlops but the tire light is coming on again. I am assuming that it is just that the ID has not set yet. Anyone want to comment on that?

Re: How it SHOULD be..
Is it flashing? If it's flashing they may have damaged the sensor. I jsut got a new tire, then had to take it back
for them to replace the sensor.
for them to replace the sensor.

Yes, it is flashing. But this is the third rim that has been on the car today. The tire has never been removed from any of the rims. How can that cause the sensor to get damaged? I thought it was on the inside of the rim.

So.... my having driven home should have reset the ID, no?
The weird thing is that it is off for the first couple of minutes and then it turns on. It is blinking instead of being on all the time.

I am just tired of dealing with these guys.
I RTFM and found that flashing means there is a system malfunction. I am going to assume for the moment that the malfunction is because there is a new ID that the vehicle does not know about.

When I had gotten home I had turned the ignition to the on position and then off again as I was reading the manual. I just went back out and found that the new tire was about 4lbs heavy. I checked all the tires and set them to what the door sticker says.
Went for a drive for about 15 minutes and everything is cool.
