They call it both a 3 rotor RENESIS and a 20b, so we'll have to wait for the port configuration to see what it is all about, but still, this is cool!
clicky!
This is a good quote, too:
"On any given weekend, there are more Mazdas on the road-race tracks of America than any other brand of vehicle. Mazda's motorsport involvement even extends to the nation's premier road-racing circuit, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca."
I guess that's thanks to the RX-7 and Miata being great, cheap cars and fostering all of those spec racing series.

Great find. A while back the idea of a 3 rotor Renesis was discussed here but the port configurations was a major issue. I hope that mention of 400hp is in NA form.

Beat you by an hour! This engine is already being discussed in this thread in the General Automotive section of the forum (since the car is not an RX-8, and the engine isn't from an RX-8 ).

How would I like a 3-rotor renesis? Well, this question would be much easier to answer if the question before this one was... How would you like 10 MPG? That is if this 3-rotor engine would ever find its way into an rx-8 or rx-7. I can't really see this happening until they figure out how to improve fuel efficiency.
