hows the throttle response???

I noticed on our 6 the electrinc throttle seems to lag like a half sec or so all the time. Its a bit annoying... hows the throttle on the RX8?

Exactly, almost instant response. Step on it and go. Plus power delivery is extremely smooth.

Electronic throttle? I don't even notice :D, neither did my co-workers test driving it, not untill I told them so.

Same feeling here. But I find if I want a quick start I have to let the clutch out at 3000 RPM or it seems to "think" about moving first.

I can concur with pr0ber on the throttle response of the 6 as I've been driving my mom's 6. It definately seems like it takes about half a second for it to kick it when you push it down, as opposed to my 8 which responds nearly instantaneously.

Have any of you guys with 8's ever driven a Miata? How does the throttle response compare? Out of all the cars I've driven, I've found that Miatas definitely have the best response, if the RX-8 feels similar to this, I'd be very impressed.

Are the 6/6s cited with laggy throttle here automatics, or manuals? I would assume the latter, but...

I just turned in my 2000 Miata for my 6/MT RX-8 last night. The 8 feels much much more responsive. It has a Cheeta-waiting-to-be-let-out-of-a-cage feeling. Just a slight amount of pressure and it lurches forward, begging you to push harder.

I have an '02 SE and I always thought it was fine untill I went to the SEDiv autocross at the Michlein Proving Grounds a few months ago. Another Miata driver told me to pop the hood and he showed me the slack in the cable linkage...said it was all too common. After a little adjustment, the throttle response was significantly better!:D So, the "6" driver may want to check the linkage near the throttle body as he doesn't have an electronic throttle as far as I know.
