I haven't received the email yet. Ordered January 20th, dealer faxed order to Mazda the 21st.

I E-mailed Mazda and the response said "June to July" for the first pre-order group.

I certainly hope so, because X2 opens on 5/2, meaning we may see delivery in early May if MNAO wants to maximize the PR benefit by having cars on the road at the time of the release.

I saw a dealer advertising March/April delivery of 10 cars. I sent this info to Mazdaand this is what they had to say:
Thank you for contacting Mazda North American Operations. I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you.
You are correct, the RX-8 will not be available in April. The information of this dealership may be based on previous information that they have not updated. Understand that launch estimates, especially based on earliest information, are subject to change. There is no launch date currently available. Again, the earliest that we could expect to see the RX-8 at dealerships would be June for pre-orders. It is much more likely that orders will be delivered in July-August.
I regretted to read about any inconvenience or confusion that you may have experienced. We are very excited about the RX-8, and we are glad that you are interested!

I'm with you, Hercules! The longer it takes, the more time to save.

Although, the wait is going to be difficult. Especially come May, when we start seeing/hearing about it in the media.

I received my email from Mazda today! Question - did everyone's show a red RX-8 and it's just coincidence that mine will be red - or did yours show the color of your car? My request change adding email address was done Jan 30, so it took 22 days for the email to arrive after that was entered. Here's to another 15 - 19 week wait!! ;-)

dman you! i have been trying all week to get my dealer and mazda to figure out why i haven't got one yet. emailed back and forth today again with mazda. no answers yet

I'm with you zoom44. My thinking is I didn't get it because I didn't do any of the preorder stuff online, I just went straight to the dealer. Perhaps they messed up your email address or something? I called my dealer today and am waiting for the call back. I wouldn't be too worried about it though

Did either of you get a copy of anything from the dealer showing the order number or request ID #? As I've posted earlier, my email wasn't showing up as of last week on their inventory report, but it wasn't until 1/30 that my dealer, working with the district and / or Irvine Mazda folks, got my email address on my order. I did the initial 'build' of my RX-8 online; but my dealer is not one that had an email link on the ordering page of that process. I printed the order for my own information, but they apparently had to go to a Mazda website for ordering and enter all of the information online from scratch. William at rx8orders assured me it took about 30 days from the time that the email address was added to the order. My initial order has a "Request Status - Date" value of "ON ORDER - 1/16/03", and the change adding the address was done 1/30. By looking at the screen print, or print from the web "portal" site - it appears the email address was no more difficult to enter than an address line or city so I'm not sure why it didn't make it into my order initially. Anyway - the reason I got a copy of the inventory report last weekend was since I don't have an actual order and I hadn't received an email I wanted to make SURE I had an order in the works, and that's what the sales manager gave me. If you have can get a copy of that report for their RX-8 orders it should at least have your name on the unit corresponding to your order reference number!

here is the reply from mazdausa i just received:

"Hello Charlie,

Sorry about any inconvenience to you during the beginning of the week.
Regarding your confirmation, I don't have the capability to confirm
orders, they are sent automatically. As long as the dealership has
entered in your e-mail address and placed your order for their first
allocation, your order is valid and you will eventually receive
automated confirmation. As the demand for this car is high and the
amount of orders have grown, the time between orders and confirmations
has increased. Again, Mazda thanks you for your patience while you
await your confirmation.

To ensure that the above processes have been met by the dealership, I
have contacted *******. I have also requested that ***** ****,
general Manager of the dealership, contact you to confirm that your
order has been placed within the first allocation of RX-8 orders for
his dealership and that your correct e-mail was entered with your
order.

I certainly understand your eagerness to receive the confirmation, we
are very excited about the RX-8 too!"


i edited out the names of the dealer and the manager. don't want someone to get their panties in a bunch.

oh and i also tried to get them to tell me how many had actually been pre-ordered in the usa but they did not respond to that question.

I just got my email from Mazda. I confirmed with my dealer today that they went back into the order and added my email address. FINALLY!! I pasted it below and it appears as if it might be a bit different from the first email posted in this thread. Who knows and at this point I really could care less.

hmmm.... mindarrow is a marketing company that distibuted the mini promo cd. nobody else has mentioned that their email came thru mindarrow instead of directly from mazdausa. something is fishy here....... email rx8orders@mazdausa.com and ask them if this is the actual confirmation email. unless someone else who has received their's can confirm it coming thru mindarrow?


edit: when you click on the what happens next link where does it take you and what does it say?

Finally got my Mazda email today (although with no confirmation number). Actually it was from rx8status2@mindarrow.net.

mine was from the same mindarrow address, but I had no links to more information about what happens next or to change anything - mine had a link to the background and screensavers part of the RX-8 web site ( the "fun stuff" part of that page - and the FAQ, and the phone number and email address to rx8orders.

got mine today as well, didn't get to talk to my dealer, but I guess he got the message. mine was directly from mazda.
hope he didn't just put the order in today (pre'ed on 1/8)

I was one of the first group (Feb. 12th) mine also came from "mindarrow". I wonder if those of you that just got it are in the second pre-order group... hmmm

I am glad to hear that someone that got the e-mail on 2/12 got it from a mindarrow.net domain. I emailed rx8orders@mazdausa.com on 2/22 regarding whether it was supposed to come from that domain or a mazdausa.com domain. I expect a response in the next few days.

1. Did anybody else get an email with this type of link? Mine only said go download the latest screen savers.
2. Did anybody who got this link follow it and what did they find?
3. RotorBoy - When did you order and what options did you order? edit - I just noticed some of that info in your sig, did you choose the NAV?

My email was from Mindarrow but it was just congrats and you will get more info within 45 days of the month it is to be produced. This makes me wonder if my car is not going to be produced until May or later.

OK, I got a response from Mazda and yes the email was authentic.

I ordered on 1/11 and placed a down payment at that time. I assume the order was placed on 1/13.

My dealership added my e-mail address to my order on 2/14 and I got the email from Mazda a week later providing confirmation.

I did not order the navigation system.
