hydrogen

well, I know they have 'em. same engine and all, just different fuel ratios when using hydrogen. guess what I'm asking is whether they actually sell a conversion kit to alter a current 8 to be hydrogen/gasoline, or if it requires a different engine, or if I'd just have to figure it out for myself? just kinda curious here, thougth I'd ask.

unitednuclear.com is developing a conversion kit to run hydrogen...but it's damn expensive.

A conversion kit to run natural gas would be more interesting... not to mention, it's much easier to fill up which won't be the case for hydrogen for a good long while.
Problem is, the gas tank would occupy the trunk pretty much completely and probably mess up the weight distribution. Still, I'd like to see such a conversion for the RX-8.

well, as an experiment, I'm thinkin bout having a hydrolysis setup in my backyard that's solar powered. it wouldn't be fast by any means, but if I could use the hydrogen put off to power my car for a little bit, that'd greatly reduce my fuel consumption costs.

no, the answer is 42, I just haven't quite figured out the question yet

actually, I'd just use water with an electrolyte, partially to avoid the smell, and partially because I'm not overly worried about the rate of production, since I know it will be rather slow regardless. I'm not sayin I wanna run my car solely on hydrogen, just whenever I can get it to cut down costs.

bump

also, tryin to figure what I'd need if I were to do it myself. in theory, couldn't I have a tube spliced onto the fuel line with a sort of pressure activated valve that blocks the gasoline while there's pressure in the hydrogen tank, and have that be a switch for the fuel ratios? just thinkin in abstracts really right now, wonderin if and how it'd be done.

Hydrogen cannot help your fuel costs, give it up.

You'd need thousands of cubic feet of hydrogen, and a compressor if you want to go further than fifty feet.

Putting hydrogen in your fuel lines as a gas is absolutely fatal, the bubbles will cause a lean mixture and an 'all-gone-renesis' condition.

Enjoy your car as it is, if the gas cost hurts, take the bus....

yes, because why bother trying anything!

a compression system was already part of my planned apparatus, and I commented about the fuel line because I don't know this ****. that's why we ask. I know for a fact it's possible, and I don't want to run completely on hydrogen, I know it won't be produced fast enough for me to do that.

gah, sorry bout the rant, but I hate when people don't even want to try.
