Hyundai Tiburon owner, thinking about an 8

Yeah, after reading through this board and especially this thread, it seems the rx8 is a big letdown. With the slow speed, frequent problems, and lack of support from mazda I cant see ever buying one. In fact, I'll just be content with a boosted tib.

the "slow speed" is a perspective thing. for me it plenty fast but again im not trying go all that fast.
frequent problems? maybe it seems that way because of the threads you see on here. most people wont come on here just to pop in and say that everything is fine. so naturally you will see a lot more of those type of threads. ive had only minor problem that have been handled easily by my dealer.
as for suppport from mazda. well sometimes it comes down to individual dealers. some are fantastic and give people no trouble and they have a great relationship. while others find a couple bad ones and run into trouble.
in my book calling it a "big letdown" is dead wrong. you really have to drive this car to really get an appreciation for it. its a great car for what it is, a sports car but with practicality.

I came in here before I bought my RX-8 and I got an entirely different message from the one you're interpreting.

I drove a Tib once - It drove like a truck. FWD, awkward, wide steering radius and vague steering feedback. Only good thing about it was I guess it felt a little bit quick, but it sure did seem to be under a lot of strain whenever I put my foot into it. (Yes, this was a V6)
Anyway, I'm not going to harp on this anymore - if you think the 8 is a letdown, that's a personal problem. Mature a bit, then learn to enjoy and handle a well balanced car and I suspect your opinions will change. Until then, enjoy the tricked out, fast Tiburon.
Hell, I don't even think Ike would say the 8's a letdown. Slow, yes (already stated), but I don't think he'd go so far as to say it's a "letdown."

Also, if you think so little of the RX-8 (which according to your posts and the fact that you sold the car you do), why do you continue to post on this site? Shouldn't you be over at a STI site (or do you have an EVO)?

Ike speaks the truth. It's usually painful for the fanbois to hear but, it has to be said.

Ohhh Ike, you and your semantics.
But yeah, the 8's not a fast car. Fast enough to get you in trouble, but won't win at the drag strip. Though, it is a damn fun car to carve up backroads/autocrosses/road courses in.
Shame this guy's going to have to miss out on the fun. Then again, I do sort of miss my days of playing "Captain Understeer" on rainy days when I owned my FWD cars.

Feel free! I need to be getting to bed soon anyway. You can devalue this thread in my absence. After all the ridiculous claims made by the OP, it's clear that this was intended to be a joke topic from the get-go - I say we honor its intended purpose!
