Alright, I've been avoiding asking this for a long time, but this seems as good a place as any to flaunt my ignorance and open myself up for ridicule. So here goes:

Just what is wrong with a Crossfire? I don't know a single thing about them other than that they are the constant butt of humor around here. For that reason, I'm sure as hell not going to try searching, cuz I'll just get a zillion joke references. Could someone please give me a short, informative, serious blurb on the Crossfire so I can get the joke too? I'd really be appreciative...

Wow, that thread was my first post back in August. I apologized for it, as well (I overreacted). But to state I have not had a useful post since then is just ignorance.

Have you read through every post I've ever done? If so, that is really pathetic.

P.S., I'm not saying he's not helpful (or right most of the time). What I was saying is that he didn't need to post. His statement that "the RX-8 isn't fast" is a speculation statement...it depends on the person. It just seemed that he was attempting to add on to his post number, instead of stating something useful.

Handling and ride are awful - whatever surface you are on, Crossfire makes it feel like a mogul field. Auto gearbox is a disaster, you never know when it's going to kick, ratios are all wrong. Performance is poor for a motor of this size,handling and cornering remote and vague, no confidence in putting your foot down. Very noisy and tiring at speed. Interior plastic is low quality formula and feels like a KIA.

Oh and it looks like a dog squatting from behind.

why are we trying to convince this guy that he should get an 8 even if he does ever mature? we should enjoy our rides and laugh all the way down the road as we see him disappear into the rearview. there's no reason to justify to him why we have ours and it is a superior car.

I'm not trying to convince him to buy an 8, but I do feel bad for the poor guy missing out on what is surely a number of great cars because his forum buddies told him it was "teh suck." (or maybe because "teh stats" are poor)

By his logic, a Lotus Elise is a "letdown," seeing as it has lower power than the 8 and questionable reliability, and that's just pathetic.

As bad as I hate to admit it, Ike has a point. "Fast" is relative. The only road car that I geuss anyone could say IS fast is the Bugatti Veron. I geuss that is the new benchmark for "fast".

Hey Krank: Definitely check out the Top Gear video that Supercharge posted. It's hilarious! After that you'll understand and can now astound your friends with obscure Crossfire jokes. If you're not familiar with the show it's a British car TV show that needs to be copied here in America.

This thread is a shinning example of everything I hate about this site...

1. Some noob starts a thread and immediately reveals himself to be a dumbass, instead of being ignored, here we are 12 pages later
2. Some actually think its worthwhile to give their views on why the 8 is worthwhile to the ODP (original dumbass poster)
3. The same useless digressions occur…looks, auto trannies, mods, drive layouts…wings are functional on daily commuters…
4. Resident trolls like Ike view this as yet another opportunity to trash the 8
5. Ike’s bum buddies, obviously feeling indebted to his 12000 posts, offer their support
6. The subjects of what makes a great sportscar degenerates into nothing more than a stoplight drag
7. The same pathetic utube videos make an appearance
8. All the dickless wonders come out and trash other cars that they’ve proclaimed themselves too good/smart/clever/etc. to own, and likely never driven

Come on, I find this funny as hell. Don't you find it the least bit funny how threads like this go off on tangents, get all out of hand, and all the opinions that stink worse than most a** holes. Ok, it does irritate how everything comes down to how fast a car will cover the 1/4 mile to decide if it is worthy or "fast". Still funny though. Oh, I disagree with Ike probobly 99.99% of the time. But I have also realized that he writes things simply to stir things up.

It's not like this is some sort of serious or even civilized discussion. Most of us past page 3 or so are just here to have a good time. If you don't like it, you don't have to read it. Further, if you find this forum so distasteful, you can simply stop visiting the site or find another forum dealing with rotaries.

Also, if this thread bothers you, I'd suggest never entering the lounge. Ever.
