Yup, my new Mazda 8 just got banged up today. Some girl in a 1990 Plymouth Voyager decided to enter the intersection without looking and I hit her. No, I didn't have a stop sign, so its her fault. So you can chock up a blue one to the banged up list. btw, does this void my warranty? My brother told me it might.

Getting into an accident may void your warranty, it depends. If the manufacturer can link the failure to the accident then they won't cover it. For example, a girl I know bought a car and it got a sccrap on the driver door in a parking lot. She had the dent pop'd out by a professional company. She had a rattling problem in the door a few months later and Toyota wouldn't cover it. Turns out that the rattling was being caused by a loose wire terminal in the door. It didn't have the clip from the factory like it was supposed to. The company that pulled the dent never actually took apart the door because the dent was so small that they pulled. She had to fight with the service manager for a week to get them to check it out.

The only way that I'm aware of your warranty being voided is....
If you have electrical damage and the car is repaired by Darryl, his brother Darryl and his other brother Darryl....instead of Mazda. Anything where they have to bother the brain of the Renesis.
Your body kit probably isn't covered by warranty anyway...unless its all factory installed (Not many items are)....If you have to get the replacement body parts painted...they should be covered by the shop in some fashion along with a solid install. If they don't...go somewhere else. Personally, I'd go to a Mazda bodyshop....it may take a while, but you should have less problems getting future problems addressed.....in theory.
Basically, Mazda's not going to pay for anything that could possibly be paid by your insurance or in your case...the insurance of the soccer mom that you ran into. (Prevents double dipping also) Was she a MILF? LOL!
Sorry to hear that you are down for the count right now......Hopefully, you have an adequate rental ride. Nothing brings the joy of an 8! Hope you get your wheels back soon man.

I don't know where the "[i]f the manufacturer can link the failure to the accident then they won't cover it" theory came from, but under current consumer laws the warranty can't be voided by an accident unless there were existing non-mfgr mods on the damaged areas of the car or the accident can be tied to operator negligence (depending on the language of the warranty). You shouldn't worry about it - assuming there was an accident report and citation issued, you're golden.

Well, just got a call from the other person's insurance company. They're accepting liability so my baby will be fine! Unfortunately, I called the body shop and they said it might be up to a month!!!!
