Congratulations! Welcome to the club of 8 owners who went from AT to MT. I did the same this past Sunday and I couldn't be happier. Now I really feel like I'm driving a true sports car. Enjoy!!

But the RX-8 isn't a sports car... it may look like one though. :P

I read your post about you trading it in, did you end up with Cory Fairbanks doing your trade? They are my favorite dealer in the area. As for the spoiler just get the MS spoiler and you will have a clean deck to start with and not have to worry about the holes lining up. Also did you get the black one that was in the back? If so the headlights were messed up a week ago when I was there, they had a oily look to them and you should have them order you some new ones now to save some time. I just had mine replaced last week. Congrats!

I got my auto on sale for $2,1997.00 bone stock. I pay $415/month. What kind of deal do you think I would end up getting if I wanted to go to a manual? I like the auto because I live in the Atlanta area where it is 20 miles of stop and go traffic on my commute each way to and from work. But I would love to have the additional power. Not to mention it seems that each time someone comes out with a modification it is for the manual and not the auto.

the key is to get them to give you a trade allowance pretty much give as close as possible to what you owe on your 8. They wont be willing to haggle to much with the price of the new car but will mess around with the interest rates to get you where you wanna be. But my auto 8 was a grand touring so im not to sure what it would be in your case but give it a shot it wont kill you.

I'm tempted to do the same--but I think I'll hold on to the A/T for a while.

Hopefully you all learn from this and just buy the Manual from the begining as it makes it much easier.

If you dont mind me asking...

How did you manage to get a deal like that only having to pay $5 more a month with $0 down? How much did you owe on the 04 AT? and with the 20,000 miles on it... Mazda Credit? and for how many years?

Asking because I feel like I'm paying way too much a month and want to try to get it lower. (need ideas)

sounds like a great deal.

I didn't know that the manual was more than the auto. It just says TBD on the mazda.ca website now, how much was the difference?

well i already pay alot any how but. i owed 24500 they gave me 24000 for trade in. my old interest rate was 9.5 its now down to 5.5 percent. And they took off 1000k off of the sticker price. its not 5 dollars more its actually 7 and change more so almost 8. and i took it for 72months cause it seemed better than paying almost 100 more lol. Ne how i didnt get them to lower my paymen they would never do that lol they would be losing money that they know they could make by telling wats the highest your willing to pay and blablabla. i did it through mazda credit

Yeah manual is 2K more--but for me I got my A/T sport package used for about the price of a new base auto 1 yr ago. To get the Xenon/foglights etc. of the sport package I wouldn't have been able to afford it--I almost got a base 6spd--but with traffic I decided I'd rather have the niceties more than the manual tranny. The way I rationalized it was that the 6spd wasn't nearly as fast as my FD I use to have anyway--so I'll just wait for the performance when I finish dental school. I have no complaints with my A/T.

whats your payment with your 72/m plan?
what type of plan did you have before?

you only owed 24000... did u give huge down payment? or did you over pay each month?

Thanks.... looking into doing something similar.

From what Mazda stats on their website, theres a $1500 Difference betwen the auto and Manual. Ofcourse the Manual is more due to higher output...................

I find it odd that both transmission choices are the same price up here...

They are the same price in Canada. It says "N/C" as an option for the AT transmission.

CONGRATS!!!!!!

Now you dont' have to give any of us a long story as to why you got the auto, lol. Any pictures yet? What options? Now you can mod...and mod, and mod some more....without the guilt of having 40HP less...lol

Good work!
