I feel sick.....

Last year I purchased a 04 GT with 16000 miles for $20k. I go on ebay this morning looking at RX8 auctions and I see 3 auctions for 04's with very low mileage that have sold for $10,600 and $12,000 with clean titles!!! What is this all about? How can this car bring in such a low amount? Nice to know if I ever had to sell the car for an emergency that I can expect to get less than what a 2002 honda civic sellls for.

I think you overpaid, considering brand-new leftover '05 GTs with zero miles could be had for around $24k on the road. $10-12k does seem a bit low though. Depends on the miles on the eBay ones?

10-12 Does seem low. Perhaps they needed the cash and had to dump the cars.

Well, When you got the car, where you happy? If so do not have buyers remorse a year later. Enjoy the 8.

You bought a 2 year old car. It's now a 3 year old car. You should expect the price to go down. Especially since there are newer models potential 8 buyers have to choose from.

Actually his $20K was about right. I paid similar and I did A LOT of price searching (I hate paying full price for stuff). I actually drove about 7 hours to buy mine at that price.

As long as you plan on keeping yours awhile, this won't matter

If you bought it from a dealer then $20,000 is good for an 04 GT (with that mileage). If you bought it from a private seller it may have been a tiny bit steep (but if it was clean and didn't break down then meh...).

For those cars to be selling that low they are not GTs, or they're filthy or broken or all three.

Technically, depending on when it was made, an 04 could be about 4 years old. Mine was made in August 03.

I do plan on keeping it awhile and I love the car. I just would expect this car to have more value than ten grand. I understand cars depreciate and they are a horrible investment but to go from $32k to $10k in 3 years?

What he said.

A base model with "low miles" (for 2004s <50,000), with mechanical (but runs) and cosmetic defects, old tires, potentially worn clutch, brakes and some rust damage has a private party value of about $15,000. (~14,500 for an AT)

~$10,000 is off the mark.

i just bought a 2004 6MT model Sport package from a dealer with 3 more years on the warranty for $17,600. Was not a bad deal though i did have to buy from a dealer kind of far away to get it. Def. happy with the 3 more years on the factory warranty i have.

You need to keep in mind that some people were getting these cars for 8k under MSRP. The 10k price is quite low, but 20k for the car you got is high IMO. Nothing you can do about it now, just enjoy it...

That sounds like what they owed the bank for payoff if they purchased them new in '04.

It's like computers, They get better and always go down in price. If you wait for the best price, you will never get one.

Yeah$10k- $12k is low unless it has 50k miles on it, if its under 28k miles thats a hell of a price. Of course on eBay the engine could be dogged out or close to breaking down $12k is low for a 04 8 with less then 25k miles.
