I got 26.2 mpg this week-end !!

I just came back from a week-end trip and I barely broke the 9 l/100km barrier for the first time with my 8. I got a nice 8.99 l/100km (or 26.2 mpg) for the whole trip. That means 667.4 km (or 417 miles) per tank. I know it's definitely NOT a record but it's a nice change from the 15-16 l/100km I usually get with combined city-highway driving. And to think that about 50% of the journey was through the mountains!

I just got 248 miles (14 gal) on my last tank. That has been the best I have been able to achieve to date. That was with a lot of high speed & rapid acceleration driving. If I tried an eco run....naaa.

nice! you can get really good numbers if it's pure highway and you keep it under 3800-4000 rpms. i think i got 24.8 one time with 90% highway.

not to potentionally burst your bubble, but are you running non oem tires/wheels. if your overall diameter is different then oem, it will throw off your "miles"...I THINK. not sure on this, but i think the trip and odo rely on that figure...so your numbers might be inflated a bit. someone correct me if i'm stupid :P

How fast were you going? And you must have had a big tailwind.

Oh yeah, what size tires/rims are you using like 2tone mentioned?

This thread reminds me of my wet dream from the other night of a 25mpg tank.

Sighs and thinks he is only getting 17mpg

Exactly. I set the cruise-control to 105 km/h (65.2 mph) for the whole trip and I was running at around 2600 rpm. My driving was far from agressive. In fact, I did this to settle a 'bet' that I could not do the 350 km trip without refueling. I did it with just a click over half a tank.

You're absolutely right. But I am still running my 18'' OEM Dunlops. They only have 16 000 km on them. So I guess the numbers still stand.

Man, you make me jealous. I hit 23mpg on a mostly highway trip from NY to PA, and I don't think I could improve on that too much more.

What gas did you use? What oil weight?
I can hit ~480km with a full tank of gas in mixed city/hwy. That's about 12.5l/100km. And this is with redlining activities on some drives.

awesome!!! the one time i got almost 25 mpg was MOSTLY highway, but i definitely went above 70 a couple times. it's SOOOOO hard to keep it at around 65 mph!! ha ha, like caranddriver said i get passed by priuses and minivans and camrys and...well, everyone!!

so if i'm running 245/40/18...i know it's not MUCH of a difference than oem but it is a tad bit shorter...then my mpg record of 24.8 is slightly HIGH, right? shorter overall diameter = artificially high mpg? damn, i guess i can't quote that then, i'll have to figure out what it was and go for 26mpg...ha ha

I was driving just under 60mph and in 60th gear and was able to get above 26 mpg *just around 28 really*. I was so proud, but then decided that I liked reving it up a lot more.

Is this some sort of conspiracy your all in on! 400 km all highway the best I've ever gotten(100-120 kph). My average mostly highway in the GTA 320 to 350 at the low fuel light.
Is this magic or fringe science 8 don't get that kind of mpg! it's a rotary.
Please stop this madness, I've tried and tried to get better mpg, it just does not happen. I gave up a long time ago even trying. Just enjoy IT! IMO

haha^ awesome.

i only "try" to get good mileage on my drives from austin to dallas and back (about 200 miles each way). just b/c i'm never in a big rush and i like to see if i can do better than the last time. but around austin i don't really even think about it.
