I Got the Red

Thanks everyone for encouraging me to go with my heart. I love my new car. Boy, was my husband pissed when I got home. I let him drive it, but it didn't seem to calm him down. He'll be fine by tomorrow.

Here's my new car: Velocity Red MT GT Red/Black, Appearance, Spoiler, CD-Changer.

I wish it wasn't dark outside so I could sit and stare at her. I'll get pictures when I have a chance. I don't own a digital camera.

How can he be pissed? The guy must be crazy. I mean, all it takes is one look and how can you stay mad at that for long?

Ah, going with the Velocity Red. Great choice. It's not like I have a bias for velocity red or anything. :-D

Nice choice. I had the same problem with my wife. She knew about it for a month in advance, so she was pissed for about 5 weeks. She finally got over it though, as will your husband. Sometimes it is easier to ask for forgiveness, rather than permission.

Don't be too sure about the husband warming up to the car. It's been a year since I brought my VR 8 home and my wife still hates it!

yeah, my wife doesn't like it much either. She'll get into a big spiel about how she doesnt understand why I wanted a car that burns oil, has heat issues, has flooding issues.....
I just sit there going "yep, yep, yep..."

Eventually I realize she's stopped talking, and is waiting for me to explain it to her. All I can say is "I just do."

My wife always gets a little miffed when I buy a car about all the money that I am wasting. But she has no problem when she gets one. Mine secretly wanted me to buy a GTO when I was car shopping so she could pound the pavement at red lights but she likes the RX8.

Awesome and welcome to the club. While I am not recommending anything, my ex-girlfriend would not tolerate me even buying a manual tranny, let alone a sports car. Of course, she is currently my ex. My fiancee loves the car (she just doesnt understand the obsession)

Congrats on a good buy. BTW VR brings out the body lines extremely well. I personally don't care for red. But for this car its like a must.

If I had a spouse who had a real problem with me having an RX-8, I'd get rid of it. The spouse, I mean.

He's not really mad anymore. Yesterday, he just wanted to know what I paid for it. I told him that I'd pay the difference in our Geico insurance. The RX-8 is a whopping $16 more for 6 months than my Ford Focus.

take him out on some twisties and rev it proper (once it's broken in), and he'll come around

^^looks great, now you need to get rid of the dealer logo on your trunk lid. Then it would look really nice.

My wifes biggest complaint, is how often the tires must be replaced. Soft grippy tires, is not a concept she can wrap her head around. I just nod, "yes dear, it does need new tires again"
