Well I think it does, I always turn around to take a look at my 8 sitting there as I walk away from it.

It really is a matter of personal opinion though I guess.

I can see how that might be true... the everyday driver probably would choose one of those cars over the rx8. I see a whole lot of G35s and BMW 3 series on the road, but only occasionally do I see an 8. I'm guessing that those people chose the car they drive because it had what they were looking for.

Have you even tried to figure out how much a comparatively equipped 328i coupe (not 335i) costs? It's certainly not anywhere near $30,000. You're comparing cars in different price classes.

the g35 has worse interior than the rx-8! Yeeks! There was an old comparo b/t the g35coupe and rx-8 in C&D a while back and the rx-8 still trumped it.
Different strokes for different folks. Some people will never find the 3-series appealing but rather prefer a Merc. If total driving involvement is not wat you are after, then your options are far wider. To me I wanted a Cayman S. Nothing handles quite like it except for the RX-8 for a cheaper price. Even the M3 e46 felt heavy stockwise at corners.

Parked on the street, I think the 8 is the most "exotic"—for lack of a better term—of the three. Not many of them out there, most unusual looking, visually the most interesting—and most likely to get a non-car person to stop and ask "hey what kind of car is this???"

I drove those cars too, and while they are quite nice, I didn't think that what they offered beyond the 8 was worth an extra 12k. The 8 is a fantastic automobile and can usually be had for a good price. And I'm not exactly hurting for luxury features in my GT. If I was going to step up in class, though, I'm partial to the Acura RL at the moment.

The RX8 is a beautiful car. It is unique, and has low insurance rates. All that plus rear seats.

Christ, those other cars wouldn't even be noticed.

Well I hate to be a bad news bearer, but the bad news is, if I wanted a G35 I would've been driving one instead. Everyone's got an opinion, but the G35 has no appeal to me from any standpoint. I'm sorry if this rains on your parade, but the RX8 is the easily the best out of your three from the "gotta have it now" standpoint.

Gotta have it now. There's nothing in the Infinity or BMW arsenal that says those 4 words.

I'm a little puzzled by your first post. You compared prices for several different used cars, apparently specific ones. If you were trying to figure something of general interest, shouldn't you be comparing new prices? Or at least average resale prices for the same model years?

Gotta comment on the curb appeal business. I've had people go "Wow!" when they saw me drive up in my 8. Never happened when I had a BMW. Has nothing to do with how any given person would enjoy driving either car, but the RX-8's styling is distinctive.

OP referred to curb appeal as a strength of G35. But it was between the g & m, without considering the 8 (at least that's how I read it) - I don't think OP was saying "the 8 lacks curb appeal" . . .
tho I usually think of property when I hear "curb appeal".

anywho - donack - you seem like you're much more interested in the luxury aspects for a DD. Just get one of the luxury cars. The G35 is sweet & much more "sporty" looking (imo)

To be Honest, I don't know what donack456 drove, but I own a 07 328 coupe (with the new 3.0 6 cyl) and a 06 RX-8 touring, and performance wise they are not even in the same ball park.

The RX-8 is faster, night and day better handling, and distinctive styling, while the 3 series coupe is a nice luxury car, but much less connected on the road. Sure the 3 series has mood lighting the length of the door at night and the wood accents on the dash help make it much more luxury oriented, but the softer suspension and wallowing cornering (again when compared to the '8) of the 3 series make it a better girl friend or wife car, than anything else. (of course in my case my wife does drive it... I like the 8 better).

RX-8 = Sports car
07 328I coupe = Luxury Coupe (or Luxury Sedan if you get the lame 4 door).

And frankly if you consider the 328I coupe is $10K more new...If she didn't want the car, I would have never bought it... it just isn't a great deal for the price.

And completely aside is the fact that the 328I has been in the shop for more than 7 days since its purchase (Mar 07) with a completely new steering system required to be installed and tire issues... while the RX-8 (Jan 07 purchase) has been in for 15 minutes while they swapped a gas cap.

Whoever wrote that 3 series BMWs are the european version of Accords was right- except for being reliable, and except for being overpriced by $15,000.

Why don't you too!

OOOH BURNED BURN.

Just kidding.

Uhm....Comparing an 8 to a BMW or an Infiti is like comparing oldsmobiles to porches and lambo's?

Talking about Caymans, if they were out when I bought the 8..... I'd still have the 8.

But I love that car! It may be the car to grow old with.

I could not get into a G35 or a 3 series for 30k new. I was ready to spend 40k, but neither of those cars was worth 14k more than the 8.

But I did get into a RX-8 GT 6SP for 26K new.
If your looking at the G35 and BMW, your not gonna get a base.

It will cost you 38K for the G35 annd probably the same for the M3.

I looked at both of those and agree with the above. Wasn't worth the extra $

For that money, wait and get a one year used Vette. I can afford 40K easily for a car.

The 8 is more forgiving when driving as well as a more comfortable ride, I initially wanted to get a 350Z or G35, but after a friend letting me borrow his for a week when he was out of town it changed my mind.

Plus another factor was that I see about 3000 of those cars a day on the road.

Its up to you. I heard that if you get a G35 your dick gets 5" bigger. Maybe that's why they sell so much???

i liked the g35 a little more than the 350z... mostly for luxury options like a back seat... other than that it didn't really have what i wanted out of a car, the 8 provides that.

it has the luxuries i wanted, moonroof, leather, heated seats (hot enough for me), rear wheel drive, 6spd, a decent system for stock, 4 doors, backseat (for the child), some nice traction control features, and the black cherry is sexy... those are probably the most luxury i want out of a sports car :p

only thing i don't like but i can live with is the seats aren't bolstered as much as i'd like, but the parchment leather is nice and the seats are comfy so i can just hold my *** in place... well... maybe i'll just replace the driver's seat :p

The G35 is a lead sled and the 330 is underpowered. If you want a nice sedate car for cruising around looking good, that's fine, but I prefer owning a sports car that acts like a sports car.

Try telling that to G35 owners. They all act like their cars are rocket powered and handle on rails. Little do they know that the car is a pita to feel comfy barreling into a turn, not to mention the beating you take just riding it in.

G35 owners always have a high and mighty attitude for some reason...

That is until Nissan doesnt warranty their coil packs which cost around $800 for all six when they go out. I know, they went out in my 03' I35 at 32k miles and it isnt covered no matter how much you argue.

Look at the cost of repairs on G35s or even 350Z for that matter. They are very proud of that platform and appear to enjoy giving it to everyone in the *** when you need to replace something.
