Ok ain't nothing like a Rx-8. Put that in your pacificer and smoke it.

I try to give a back handed compliment and you guys still want to eat baby food.

Ok there is nothing like a RX-8, thats why its leading the world in Sports car being bought. Hows that for living in a glass house?

When I upgrade it might be to a bimmer so what, as you mentioned.

for the same money I would choose the RX-8 over a 3 series any day. the G edan isnt even on my list. The G coupe just doesnt have the back seat access or head room that i prefer. So the RX-8 was/is my choice between the 3.

I by no means think the RX-8 is the end all be all, but I do think that its the best car in its class. I am not loyal to any brand. I buy the nicest car I can afford at the time of purchase. To be honest with you I would trade my car today for a G35 coupe if my payments would be the same. I also plan on purchasing a 335i coupe for my next car so I am by no means biased.

Your comparing cars in different ballparks. RX-8 base price 27,030($492/month @3% 60 month term), G35 coupe 33,400($609/month @3% 60 month term), and the BMW 330 36,300 ($662/month @3% 60 month term). So in this case 30k ain't exactly 30k. And when you look at used cars the price discrepancy becomes even worse. Thats my main problem with your post.

FYI: a back-handed compliment is a bad thing, tard.

The $32k GT RX-8 your'e never going to get your money back out of it, you better like zoom, zooom!!

A $26k GT is a steal (those deals are long gone) but you don't want to auto -x race your GT do you?

Hey, I'm in my mid 40s, just got the kids grown, divorced and dating just now explorering Sport cars and Sport Sedans/Coupes again. Just got out of the SUV, fam-sedans, and Mini Van camp. By the way how old do you have to be, to join this club?
News flash, chief: you're never going to get your money back out of any car. Cars aren't an investment, they're an expense. And your math doesn't work. a BMW 330i costs $37000 base price, and while a fully-loaded 8 does pull $32k on paper, I don't know anyone who's paid full-freight since 2004. I got my GT for $23k. That's $14k between the two. Still think it was stupid of me to buy the 8 and not the Bimmer?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but when you are out of your league with regard to proper grammar and spelling skills. However, this is an internet forum so it's a compliment to put you up on an undeserved pedestal of expecting the average American to be reasonably educated and capable of basic communication skills ...

Really, the RX-8 has no peer, its a niche car. It unique in its own way and also its a middle of the road type of vehicle if you are looking at features and content alone. It not suppose to be that luxurious but at the same time, its not a bottom of the barrel, no frills vehicle. It's sporty.

Someone shopping for an RX-8, i'm not sure if they would be readily comparing it to a BMW or Infinti......and vice versa....and also RX-8 are discounted reasonably with rebates and such that the 32K MSRP, is most likely brought down to a 29-30K car at the very minimum

I know first hand, that when i bought my 8, i wasn't thinking hmm wonder how it compares to the BMW 3 series and Infinti G35......most people shoppin for an 8, would probably compare it to a 350Z or something along those lines. Mazdas in general are'nt in the same league as a bimmer or Infinti......no prestige or status. So i'm not sure if the point of view that was brought up, holds any weight.

I think to put up an RX-8 along the lines of a Infinti G35 and BMW 3 series is actually complimenting the 8 because you're putting it up on a pedestal that it shouldn't be on in the first place.

+1

i used to drive a 330ci, and i have no idea what you're talking about. the only step up i would say there is from the gtrx8 to a 330 is in the air conditioning. the handling, i think, is a step down. the fun is a step down. the fuel cut being at 7k is a HUGE step down -- it comes quick in first. i dunno about the g35. they're ugly. i would never want one. sort of looks like a cross between a 350z and a crossfire. puke.

And what bad news did you bear? Personally, I think what everyone has said so far is spot on.

Here's the deal. Before I purchased my RX8, I looked at the G35 and the 330Ci. In my opinion, those 2 cars are absolutely beautiful. They both fall in the low 30K price range (used) and they both exude luxury and sportiness. (Note: the word sportiness was used VS performance).

I also found that, while they have beefier engines the cars themselves are a bit heavier. Coming from a VW GTi with a moerately tuned VR6, I was tired of the weight. I wanted a sporty, fun car that was well balanced on all points.

I like how you can take a car like the RX8 and drive it calmly if you want a nice smooth, relaxed countryside ride. But, when that tractor in front of you turns off, you can downshift and turn your country drive into a thrilling joyride. I like being able to flick the car into turns. Could you do this in any of the sport luury cars? Maybe... but those cars are built around stability and comfort first, then they drop in an engine large enough to handle the weight, and provide a sporty feel. BMW used to focus on performance first. Now I find they are just blah.

I also agree that the RX8 is not in the same class... nor should it be. If driven properly, the RX8 should be the "more fun to drive" car. I think the G35 should be the most luxurious one with the best engine, and the BMW would be the most solid feeling car. Their ergo department is amazing.

Thanks for the post. Good luck on your decision.

Whether you like it or not these ARE cars that get scooped into the same categories. I was looking at G35s when I was shopping for a new car. We found the 8 for a steal, and ended up getting it... but I think it was too much of a whim. If I could go back, I'd probably get the G35. It's much better suited for the driving I do (almost all highway). I'm missing the torque of my old car (300 ft/lbs ). The RX8 gets looks, but nothing like a pristine g35.

I do love the 8, but I think it is too much of a niche car...

I'm gonna be using it only for carrying people around once I get a bike...
