I hate thieves

holy crap CoW, what an ordeal!
First off: really sorry to hear that they got into your car and stole random stuff () As you said, all of that can be replaced but just the fact that they were in your car makes it akward. I'd feel violated as well...
Fortunately they picked the WRONG guy to try and steal from. The camera work, kill switch, and the parking job are all genius. I really hope you're able to get something on video and nail these idiots.
As far as your dog getting shot...wtf?! I REALLY hope you get that on video, make sure the cameras are rolling as the State Trooper knocks on his door.
Good luck with the insurance company, keep us posted!

Been fine so far. My company is paying for their lost equipment (my boss gave me a dressing down for it, i write them a check 'next time'), but no word from the insurance company on if they will pay for a full re-keying.
I actually thought of great addition to the kill switch that should make it nearly fool proof. Gonna try it out this week end, but basically adding a 2nd switch in the clutch circuit, a spring loaded post switch (similar to what is down at the clutch anyway), and install it under the center console right behind the shifter, where 4th gear would be. Make it so that you have to have it in 4th (or whatever gear I end up with if not 4th), to complete the circuit as well. So Switch on, clutch in, and in 4th to start. Any of those not correct, it wouldn't. So even if they find the switch, who puts their car into 4th before starting?
Wouldn't block push/pull starting, but if they are willing to do that, then they are willing to find a tow truck.
Have a night vision camera pointed right at my 8, centered on the driver's seat from about 30 feet away non-stop right now, plus I have the GPS installed as well, so I'm sleeping peacefully at night.
I'm gonna make them work for my 8 damn it!

I know what you mean about making them work for your 8. I added the shock sensor and leave my shades open towards my car with a loaded gun close at hand. My neighborhood is supposedly adding a bunch of lights too (possibly motion activated).

Insurance company 'still investigating', which I guess makes some level of sense if you take a look at my story from a skeptical light, it kinda does sound like I am trying to cover up insurance fraud. I'm not, but it is definitely kinda out there.
On my side, I still have a nightvision/IR camera covering it every night, plus the GPS wired in (although the text messages I get every time I start driving and 10 mins after I last stop driving is slightly irritating, but worth it), plus the 1 kill switch. Well, it works at some level because I am sleeping at night and my 8 hasn't disappeared.
I am still going to wire up the 2nd kill switch. Just makes too much sense on a few levels. I.E, dropping the car off at a dealer, talk to the guy that will do the work, tell him how to start it up... you know if you get a panic-y call from the dealer, someone else was messing with it. Who would guess that you need it in 4th gear to start it? Even if they found the other switch, it wouldn't apparently change anything.

So yeah. Not happenstance, not coincidence, not just random luck. My wife just got diagnosed with shingles, and while dealing with that, her friend came over and had her purse stolen out of her car before she even got inside the house. Turned around after realizing she had left it there in time to see the back of some dude disappearing down the street.
In case it wasn't clear...
I HATE THIEVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, what the hell. I already have the company that handles our CCTV for the nation getting me a system cheap, should have it set-up in a few days. I have the 1 camera I was working with on loan from my job, but that won't last forever and I obviously need to cover my entire yard, front and back.
WTF is wrong with people!?
Also working on the wife to let me get a shotgun. She hates guns, but 3 times in 2 weeks, someone is watching, and it is only a matter of time before they move from the yard to inside the house.
Edit: Oh, the other 3rd "time" I just referenced is last friday we got home and found 2 fresh pellet wounds on our basset, one of them had the pellet still embedded in it, the other apparently fell out.
I'd seriously put the house up for sale and move again if I could...but no way in hell it would sell yet, not for what I owe on it.

Ugh Mike, I'm really sorry to hear that. How is the wife holding up with the shingles? That is no fun. The thieves and whoever is shooting your ******* dog is even worse. If there is anything I can do to help let me know. I highly recommend buying a gun. She may not like it, but if these things are not isolated incidents you need to take steps to protect your family. I know how angry you must feel, I felt pretty angry when my car was hit, but you have a lot of resources to leverage. See if you can get some officers to drive through the neighborhood on a patrol route. When there was an outbreak of thefts in my neighborhood they upped patrols considerably.

Yeah, all done, she didn't put up much argument about the gun, so that will likely happen within the week. I am going to be pulling another string and getting a conference call with the local district captain either tomorrow or Wednesday.

Sorry, I am in a poor mood from the more recent events, and I get irritated from people that skim the first post or two and post when it is clearly some time ago and there has been lots of discussion since then.
No offense intended.

I feel your pain.. 6 years ago when i was in AIT(army job training), everything I owned up to that point in my life was stolen from my storage unit. They got me and 5 adjacent units. My insurance was $3000 but that didn't even begin to cover all my stuff.. I shipped off to Korea with 2 duffelbags being everything in the world that I owned. Everything I have now has been purchased since then. I still get upset when I think about it. I sincerely hope you are able to catch these guys. Thieves deserve limb removal.
