Good to know though.

Your Sig --> 2004 RX8 GT 6MT, Ti Grey w/ appearance package. Racing Beat Rev8 exhaust, AFE short shifter, Fender strakes, RB A/C screens, 3rd brake light RX8 mask, splash guards, sunroof wind deflector, rear rotary accent, clear corners, 8000k HID bulbs...more to come!

Car dealers scorn at pimped-out cars. Trade-in values will reflect the scorn.
Also something to consider is the car you are planning to trader into. If you are getting a good discount, chances are the dealer will lowball you on rx-8 in order to recoup the discount lost. Pretty simple stuff.
And finally it's 04.....

umm...not to hate but trade-in values are ALWAYS low. you should never been surprised with a low trade-in and even expect it unless you have a very coveted car that they know will sell easily. we have a niche car, they don't want it.

anyway, trade-ins are always low. my gf's camry trade-in was under 7k, we sold it privately for almost 10k. don't give up on the switch, just give up on the trade-in part. sell it and go to the dealer with cash.

also - fyi - over 100k is always a HUGE red flag for anyone, not matter the car (save maybe civics). everyone is afraid of a high mileage car.

Check out other car resale value as a % of new transaction price and you'll change your opinions; I did.
112k miles is buku miles for a 5 year old car, too. Slushboxs sell for about 10% less than MTs, too.

I have found new car prices are better than used car prices since boondoggle cash for clunkers, too.

I test drove 8 cars to replace my 8 now that we have a 10 month old and have one on the way and nothing comes close to the 8 in terms of sports car/daily driver comfort (and it runs like a champ in the snow with iPike W409s, too.

If you want a great family car that is still sporty and pretty fun to drive, do yourself a favor and check out an Audi A3. I test drove the TDI version and was pretty impressed. If I get another car, the A3 is probably the way I'll go.

@Huskyfan03 - Check KBB's Private Sale value. You do better than $6250!

Of course the trade-in value depends upon where you live. I just did a KBB look-up for my area, in Rhode Island next to your state of Connecticut. The trade-in value for an '04 MT with 112,000 miles in "good" condition is about $6,800. The value for a private party sale is $9.320. But I wouldn't count on a dealer giving you that amount for a trade-in. I had a talk with a salesman I know, and for a car over 100,000 miles, they will give you whatever the local auction house will buy it from the dealer for.

trade-in value on a 2 year old GT is about 15k on a 04 with over 100k on the ticker 6-7k is about right.

Try this, go get another 30K~ ish brand new car, put 110K miles on it. sell it back out see how much you will get ?

Im 6~ K is a bit low, but its not that far off, you'd be lucky to get 8+ K out of any car that has 110K miles on it. especially in America, where brand new cars are dirt cheap.

It is the high mileage hurtiing you. Let's face it you got your use out of it. That's all it is worth on trade. see below. Try selling it outright for $7500(private party price). You might get it since there are not many rx8s out there with such high mileage depreciation. A sports car is a sportscar high mileage or not. Teens with part time jobs would love to have a car like yours and could afford it too. Put it in the classified ads before trading. Trade -in is giving it away. That is of course unless there is something wrong with your 8.
