Talking I Just Got One!

Just got my 2005 Titanium RX8 last night! Spent today scooting around about 300 miles, and although I didn't think I wanted the Nav, I was really glad I had it when I got lost in Salem. My hubby's out driving it now, and I'm pacing the floor waiting for its return. (This is worse than my kid's first date!) What a BLAST! My only complaint so far is the road noise. I think I need to have it undercoated.

Talk about LOOKS! Everybody ogles it, and I got quite a few up-thumbs. I hate parking it in lots though, but it does shorten my shopping time 'cuz I need to hurry back out to it!

Merry Christmas to MEEEEEEE!

Yes, A very Merry Christmas for you!. Congratulations on the new ride. Enjoy!

I know what you mean about parking lots. 'Cept with me , I am paranoid about door dings. I have even left the lot if can't find a spot suitably far enough away from the masses. Whew! I need help.

Congrats and great taste in colour, thats the color I want as well. Have fun, I actually like road noise to a degree, helps one hear how rough th rough surface is and helps you hear that lovely rotary werr.

Merry Christmas To You Indeed

Congratulations. Nice choice of colors. Care to share any more thoughts? Like 6 speed or A/T? Not sure what packages come with what, but I think when you choose the Nav option it comes pretty loaded, right?

Congrats again.

look at my signature it links to the DIY to add video in...the audio in part I can show you how to do too...but that is easy Plug and Play

the unit I use has 4 video inputs (one is S-video great for static text...ie modded xbox interface) I ordered one from www.rx8garage.net (they have a winter sale on the units I believe till the end of the year ask Thew he is the owner and wanders around the forum just like us...he has a Winning Blue 8)

It's a 6 speed, I think it's pretty well loaded up. Black leather, 6 cd changer, spoiler, appearance pkg, etc. It took me about 1 1/2 hours to get the dealer to come to my price. (I actually had to go up about $150 from my original offer) plus got the spare tire kit and all-weather mats thrown in. They really wanted me to finance it, but I had a sweet deal from my C.U.

I'm looking forward to adding strakes :p - I think that'll be my first fun thing. Also, the dealer offered a "protection package" which adds some sort of clear coat, protection for the leather seats, undercoating, and I can't remember what else. I'm thinking of going for it since I want undercoating anyway, and getting a 5 year guaranty on the leather seems smart, since I have 2 teenage boys, and (cringe) I plan on letting them enjoy it too. But it's $699, which I'm sure is a rip-off. Not sure if they deal on that kind of stuff, but I have a couple weeks to decide.

HA! Okay - I'll quit complaining. My garage also houses a 1953 MG TD and a 1955 Jag XK140. Now THERE'S some road noise!

Congratulations and welcome to the Titanium Gray "subcult" here at the forum.

The strakes are a good idea and look good with the Titanium Gray--thinking about getting them myself. However, run, don't walk, away from the dealer's so-called "protection package." It's a complete rip-off and whatever is included will probably do more harm than good. I know from past experience. You already have rust coverage, and whatever you do, don't let them touch the paint on your car. Just wax it (or have it waxed) regularly. Hey, something for your kids to do for you! :p

Do those two words even belong in the same sentence? J/k - they're good kids and would do it. Thanks for the advice on the protection package. I kind of thought that myself (experience YEARS ago) but hoped they'd improved.

Speaking of people doing things for me ----- while I was out zoom-zooming, my dear hubby swamped out the garage so my new baby has a place inside. WHat a guy. I think he wants driving privileges.

Congrats. Enjoy your ride. I remember the feeling I had for the first 30 days after buying the car. I just did not want to stop driving it. Well after 13months it is still there. Enjoy

Well said. You are going to find ways/excuses to go out and drive it. You will no longer be in a rush to go home. And don't forget to start the habit of turning around and staring at it before you go on your merry way.

Last night a couple hours after I bought it, my younger son (and I) couldn't sleep, but the mall was open, so we went out for a midnight drive/shop. The lot was almost deserted, but I still parked way out all by my lonesome under some lights. I turned back to look at it, and so did my son, upon with he yelled, "OH MY GOSH! THAT'S YOURS!" Yup - it's goooood to be spoiled!

No Paint Protection. Try Stongard...

Rather than the so-called paint protection package offered by your dealer, you might consider the "clear bra" option, a 3M plastic film that covers the front of the car, the front of the mirrors, and the door edges.

It provides very good protection against the chipping caused by those nasty little pebbles that the trucks toss at you here in the Pacific NW. On a Titanium RX-8, you'll find it's virtually invisible.

There are a number of different brands. Stongard is, imo, one of the best. Your mileage may vary.

Happy to see another RX-8 owner in the PNW. Love the Oregon Coast. You're lucky to be living there.
