I just started beeping.

So I have now broken in my car and I took it all the way to 9K rpm on Saturday.

It sounds absolutely amazing and it's extremely exhilirating. :D

Just thought I'd share....

Can't wait for this weekend when I'm doing a 2 day autocross school . It will be my first time pushing the 8 to it's handling limits.

9K = Extra smiles

Here is my issue, I have a 05, I have not heard the beep as of yet and I don't know why? I can't remember right now if I had the radio on or something but I thought I could hear with the radilo on or not. It's not like I have my radio high (mostly between 7-9) and my 3-5 trips to 9K so far have been silent.

I'll have to try it again and hopefully I will hear it.

???

Oh, have fun at the driving school!

The beep is not super loud. Sometimes the engine roar makes the beep impossible to hear and if you have a window down, its also hard to hear.

Let me know how that was ... I'll be running in several events this summer with SCCA in Joliet. See you there!

Yes, 9k is a lot of fun. ^_^ And have fun with your autocrossing, Machan. It'll be a blast, surely.

I asked the same before....turned out it was BS...or simply the blue LEDS ontop of the gauge clusters shining down onto the needle as it points up (closer to the blue light source)

Not that I've seen...but then again I aint hearing either, maybe something is wrong with me...lol.

I drive with the windows down most of the time so I guess the "beep" is not helping me much.

Aseras:

At 9000 RPM, the car emits a beep as you hit the redline.

Machan:

With the "white" dash lights off, as the RPM needle climbs through 7K RPM, the blue glow reflects off it. I don't believe it's a feature.

Actually my beep comes on at 8500 rpm, right where you hit the crosshatched bit on the tach.

It's cool that the guy in the Top Gear video makes a point of the chime coming on.

He said something like "The engine is so smooth it doesn't feel like it's running on anything as coarse as petrol. It feels like it's running on DOUBLE CREAM..."

Same here... I think I've heard it once with the windows down, but I was listening for it. Going 90 in 3rd can be pretty noisy with the sunroof and windows down
