Smile I just wanted to say....

You guys have beautiful cars. When I first saw the RX-8 I thought it was one of the ugliest things I have ever seen. However, as time went on it started to grow on me and now I am in love with it. I knew I wanted one when I sat in one and played around with it at the carshow and now I will most likely buy one as soon as my lease is up which is coming up pretty soon. That is all.

Glad to hear you have converted....many critics say the 8 looks like an "angry guppy", personally i do not have a clue where they pulled that from.

I thought the RX8 was ugly too when I first saw it in person. I guess because I really like the look of the RX7 and figured the RX8 should be better. Over time I started liking it more so I drove one, loved it and bought one.

I wanted one as soon as I first saw one
All the Ha wian Tropic ladies hanging around it at the Jim ROme tour stop didn't hurt either. Never though I'd be able to afford it but what do you know...zoom zoom

My first view of the 8 was in the X-men movie...I was unimpressed. The very first time I saw one in person (car shopping for my GF) I fell in love with it (never thought I'd be able to afford one though but the sticker proved otherwise).

I don't think I'll ever want a car with pistons again (I still admire some of them but I have no desire to drive them [this statement excludes the exotics like: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, TVR, Lotus, XJ220, and various others that I'll never be able to afford]).

I saw my first one parked on a golf course at school. This golf course served as the parking lot for football games, in case you were wondering...

Anyways, it was velocity red and I think a red/black interior...can't remember. Up until that point, I'd never given the RX-8 much consideration at all. It pretty much flew under my radar the whole time despite the fact that I was surprised and impressed with the RX-EVOLV concept. I'd have to say this was due to the fact that I was entirely hellbent on buying a BMW and I wasn't considering anything else.

Yeah this car caught my attention. I couldn't believe how deep those front fenders were flared and how low-slung it was. The pictures certainly didn't do it justice. Plus velocity red is one of the most stunning colors I've ever seen...that metallic flake HAS to be seen in the sunlight! I'd say my impression was a notch below seeing a Ferrari, even though I immediately thought it looked a LOT like a Ferrari. Needless to say, I walked away impressed.

Little did I know I'd be driving the dream mere months later!

i'm right there with you guys. i was not at all impressed at the body style of the rx8 at first. i first saw it on an x2 commercial and then i began reading up on it. i was still hesitant, but once i saw it in person, that completely changed. after i drove one, that was all the convincing i needed. about a month later (nov '03) i took one home.

I agree. In most of the pictures, the shot of the rx8 is from a very low angle. Thats not its best "side" IMHO. But when you see it in person from a high angle (equal to or taller than vehicle) it looks nice. It was so odd to me that it would look so different in person than in the pictures. Its front end is also better than its other end when looking at it.

i thought the 8 was ugly at first too, but I watched a program about it on the speed network and they were talking about how amazing the wakel rotary engine was and the unique styling, so I went and sat in one and test drove it and then I was hook so I bought it that same day, I wouldnt even let them clean it up I took it home right away and did it myself.
