i need a little help

hi all, i just signed up new today and first off i want to say hello to everybody.

my problem:

i want a rx8, but i also want a lot more horsepower then there is in it right now...
i also know that putting stuff to the engine aint gonna do enough for me, i wanna look forward to at least 300 maybe 350 hp.
therefore i was wondering if anybody has yet thought about putting another engine in the 8.? is there enough room? when yes, for what?
if yall know a way to get 300 hp out of the rotory engine (or however u spell that) just feel free to tell me

i hope to hear from yall.

If it doesnt have enough HP for you then dont buy 1.
Get a mustang , 350 or Evo

Honestly if you dont even own a RX8 how do you know you need more power?
Its not a drag race car if thats what your going after.

I have seen some piston engines inserted into a 7 shell (got lots of laughs at a Rally), and I have seen some odd outer kits on some 8s, as well, because they could not get a Corvette to drift properly- but it's sort of like putting a coocoo-clock in the belly of a marble statue - it would work, but it aint necessiarly tasteful - It more like "Oh my Gosh - why did you do that - What were you thinking!!!!"
And you would lose a lot of the smoothness, lightness, and the balanced mid-weight properties of the 8...
I think maybe you should try driving an 8 - see if you can find an 8 club in your area that is going to do a rally at a track - then and only then reconsider this question....Even an automatic 8 has more giddy up then you would think possible!

^ yeah... have fun finding the money for a 20B motor and shoving that thing in your engine bay. a 13brew would give you more power than you can handle with a decent sized single. 26B? lol have fun finding the large amount of money and shop that will build one for you with a custom e-shaft. dont forget the size of the thing.

^^ Hey man, If he has about 60 something grand laying around he could give acosta motorsports a call. Isn't that the name of the place that does it?

If you want hp, have you considered cars like the GTO, Stang GT, 350z, EVO, or STI? Yes, any of these cars will run all over the 8 in the 1/4 mile, but on the track, their capabilities are pretty even.

What exactly do you want the high HP for? What kind of racing are you going to be doing?

350 whp is for chumps. https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=78088 - check out what these guys are doing while keeping it rotary! Who says you can't fit a 20b?

Oh, and there was a thread about somebody putting a 1000 hp Supra engine in an 8, but I haven't followed through to see if it was ever accomplished. Last I saw they had an 8 torn down and ready to install the engine.

its still not worth it. you can have a professional rotary shop turn a 13brew with a giant turbo (GT42, T88, etc etc) into a 600+ whp machine. i dont think acosta does 26b's. only a select few make e-shafts for 4 rotors.

hahaha that 1000hp 2jz thread was BS. the dude never returned. dDub challenged him to an autocross match with his almost stock 8 against his so called "1000hp 2jz rx8". it was all BS at the end.

i dont think this car is really right for you. you seem to be looking for hp, with the 8, it is more of a balanced car that has many other great characteristics besides hp. sure you can achieve that amount of hp with the stock engine w/ a turbo or sc or you could even do a engine swap but that could get costly. if you really want an rx8 and have the money for upgrades then by all means go for it, but you might avoid troubles by starting with a different car

Don't buy this car b/c of hp... Buy it b/c of handleing, style, and safety.. This car is so sweet stock.. I love driving it.. Not the fastest car but who cares when your hit a U-turn at 55 mph, dropping a gear, and straighting back up in under 3 secs. Now, if only I could get my girlfriend to ride that smooth.. I don't know why everyone is so worried about hp.. Hop in an old charger with 500hp and then hop in the RX-8 with on 238hp.. The RX-8 wins for me hands down.. Plus, pulls girls like crazy.. Just make sure you put a bumper sticker on saying, "No Fat chicks, Car may Scrap ground."

hey guys, thx for ur alls postings and stuff.

im not really happy to drop another enginge into the 8 either, i just thought i ask and see what yall think about it, see if anyone has done it so far...

after reading ur posts, i guess it aint a good idea to do it anyways

well why do i need more hp? i've driven cars at 200 hp and 350 hp before, and i just think a little more power is more fun.

and dont worry i was not gonna drag race anyways, just a little streetracing, show everybody whith their bmw, mercedes, that mazda is the **** !

yeah i guess thats what i need a little more power for, beat those bmw m3's. i hate 'm.

ou and yeah i have considered the nissan 350z, result: no car right now does look any better than the 8 (at least i think so)
i guess im gonna have to testdrive an 8 and see how it runs, i guess it runs really good though

Be careful when you test drive this car...better off to test drive other cars and THEN get back to testing the 8... once you test drive the 8... you'll do what most of us did... buy it.

Good call Crazy 8!

It doesn't hurt to try the 8 first though. It shows up the others in how smooth it is to drive.

I actually test drove the 8 first. Then tested the others..Z,G35,TT etc.
then tested the 8 again. The 8 ended up being my overall fav. So I took the plunge. But all that's ancient history now.
