Smile I need a question answered

Hi there i am in the last steps in buying my rx8 and i have spent countless hours researching on this car and driven 5 of them so far and am very impressed with them. The question i need answered is if i run it for periods of about 5 mins, such as driving from my house to school or from school to lunch, and i am on the car hard, do i need to worry about flooding the engine still? also i heard that this car devours oil so also which oil is best for a rx8
Thanks

You should only drive the car hard when it is properly warmed up.

Five minutes is usually long enough for it to be warm enough to turn off. Not long enough to drive it hard, though. And the best oil for that kind of driving would be 5w20, as the owner's manual recommends.

But if that's all the driving you ever do, why get this nice a car?

Alright thanks. And trust me with this nice of a car this wont be the only kind of driving i will be doing but i was kind of worried about flooding the engine with just the 5 minute driving. Seems like every single mechanic i talked to promised me that they flood so easily.

just always let it sit started for like 5 mins before driving it that way your safe and shouldnt have any trouble with flooding

Ok thank you. Oh and one more thing. In the right rear light, it looks like there is some condensation that is stuck inside of the lens. We had snow about a week ago and 60 degrees since( colorado weather). Its an 04. Is this a problem with the light or will it disapate with time or do i have to replace the light

Flooding:
1. Engine is cold, you drive it out for a few metres, shut it down, it will probably flood.
2. Engine is warmed (temp needle in middle) it will not flood.
3. As long as trip is enough to warm engine up, it will not flood. Shortest trip I ever driven is 2 kilometres and thats enough to warm car up, a few blocks would probably flood.

Driving hard:
Its good to drive it hard every once in a while as long as the car is warmed up. The general consensus is it helps to remove carbon from sticking in engine internals.

Devours Oil:
1. If you do an oil change every 3000 miles, chances are you don't have to worry about the oil being consumed a lot unless you rev it to 9k in every gear every trip.

2. Premix helps. (Please perform a search)

3. You can always install a SOHN adapter. (Please perform a search)

What oil to use:
We don't wanna start another debate on this one...
