I had a body shop do this to my car while she was in getting some touch up work done. I made them pay to have Mazda go over the car and make sure it was in good shape. When I got it back it had all the usual poor running signs of a recently flooded car, rough idle lack of acceleration and jerkiness as the RPM went up. To cure these issues fill the tank with premium gas, and use about 8oz of MMO in the tank (I personal use a little more sometimes and I do 2 treatments) to help clean out any deposits that are in the engine. It will take about 60 to 100 miles of highway driving for it to clear up. Once it clears they run like new.
NOTE: DO NOT try to just floor it, you can get detonation that can blow the motor, take it easy, keep the radio down and work with the car to get the system cleaned up. Patients is a virtue that can save the car in many situations.

yea the papers i have here say rotary engine core has been extended to 8 yrs / 100,000 miles. what exactly is the core components?
i went out there and took a look and while the car drove ok it was shaking uncontrolably so i left it and told them to take care of it before i pick it up. they will likely clean out the plugs and not replace them unless i push for it. how often should they be replaced anyway? i was also told that they didnt flood the engine 3 times, they say they turned it off while it was still cold atleast 3 times and flooded it once which makes more sense.

I think the manual recommends new plugs every 30k, but they get nasty quick and 30k seems to be asking alot. The cat is covered (by federal law) for 100k if I recall correctly, so it's worth checking that out now so Mazda can replace it if necessary.

actually, the engine no crank TSB was updated to 8 yr/100k miles so plugs are covered if they do a de-flood procedure.

i unfortunately found out the hard way. i had my first flood not too long ago. when the dealership i took it to said it was covered i thought they were just being really nice for the first time ever and then i read the TSB. was still nice of mazda though.

It sounds like you took your car to Bubba's Auto Repair. 1st mistake. what was the original work they were doing to your car?
If they flooded it, the plugs are f*cked. Make sure they get replacement plugs from a Mazda dealer, not some $1.00 apiece crap from Bubba's Auto Supply.
How did they get it re-started? I just don't see Bubba following a technical de-flooding procedure.
End of rant.
