I think I have the best rx8 in the world
Just to brighten up my day
=] haven't seen some positive thread for a while so I'll start
I think I have the best rx8 in the world =]
I have '05 MT Sunlight Silver
screw ths curse of the silver
My baby can't be touched
I see many threads about Rx8 air conditioning being weak or not even working.
Mine works perfectly. It gets cold fast and blow hard enough that I never actually went up to above 2, and I live in Las Vegas.
at least once a month, I go down to LA to see family and friends, trouble absolutely free. Ride is comfortable with awesome cruise control. Rattling sound is nowhere to be found anywhere in my car.
not any rough idles
after driving hard for some time, I hear a little backfiring in my exahust, but already knew perfectly normal for rotary.
Recently, excessive heat in the trunk issue came up, but not that i think of it as an issue. I usually put backpack or my computer in my trunk. It does get little warm however, but I live in Las Vegas.. 100-130 degrees everyday normally...it's getting pretty Freaking ridiculous(I miss Cali weather), but nothing hot or concerning as an issue.
My cup holders don't even get that hot either. Coffee warmer?? not even close
I always put my cellphone in there and my ipod, because they tend to slip out of my pocket while driving. whenever i take it out, on some hot day, it is a little warm, but nothing hot.
I am also happy with gas mileage, and oil consumption.
I just love driving this car!
I drive about 10-15 miles of freeway to work 5 days a week, and the only thing I'm looking forward to every morning is driving my car.
little over a year and a half of ownership, this car gave me nothing but joy and lala
The only time I had to take it in was a recall, and rest are just oil change.
I think I got the best rx8 ever made
sorry folks

.... and tomorrow someone side swipes his car. After which as it is being towed away on the flat bed a crane lifting up a large I-beam moves over head. The cable snaps and the I-beam falls on his beloved Silver 8 though through some odd twist of fate or miricle the tow truck driver is safe and sound.
hehe sorry had to.. but yeah myself I just posted a Postitive thread to much negitivity as of late!

shak,
In your regular treks to L.A. what type of speeds do you average and what's your gas mileage?
I drove an Integra GS-R for over 11 years and in the same driving as my 8 I'd get 29-30 mpg vs. 21ish in the 8.
How often do you have to add oil?
As for your cupholders not getting warm, you're pretty lucky; two weekends ago I had my phone and extra set of keys in there for a short period (less than an hour) and they were toasty, for sure.
None of the little nuances of the car affect me enough to even consider parting with it. From your contentment with the car it sounds even more like someone would have to pry your cold dead hands from the wheel to get you to turn it over.

When I drive back to LA, I drive around 80-90 mph
It usually takes almost a full tank to get to where I live. (Pasadena, 20 min from downtown LA)
I never really measured the exact mileage.
However, something interesting I found out.
Everytime, when I drive back from LA to Las Vegas,
By the time I get to the strip, I would always have like a quarter of a tank left
But then again, when I drive to LA, always takes almost a full tank
I will never know why
I add about quart of oil every 1500-2000 miles
hahah yah i know..I don't actually measure but
here's my system,
When I drive back to LA, i start with full tank of gas.(plenty to get to where I live, but have to refill in local station before actually get home.)
for adding oil, haha I usually add one container of oil between every oil changes

He sounds like a newlywed... Wait until the honeymoon is over...
She'll start spending all your money and get soft in all the wrong places.
Forget about a little quick action because she's got a rotor-ache or it's that
time of the month... you know, right before payday...
Only kidding... I think...
Glad you're happy with your 8...
even when they're bad...
they're good

I can't help but think that you've just officially screwed yourself.
Good luck.
Thanx for the positive thread though

Dont they all do??
I mean, they tend to turn gas and oil into smoke at a speed normaly reserved for super heroes!
Just kidding. I have had mine for over 3 years now and I have to say I feel the same way.
It has the uncanny ability of turning a bad day into a good one with just a blip of the throtle and a couple of tight turns ;-)
I still look into my garage and smile every day!! How many cars can you say that about after 3 years?

I also have a sunlight silver RX8. The first week I owned it someone backed into the rear bumper cover. His insurance paid $970.00 to repair. One month later, got rear ended sitting at a stoplight by a Kia. Again, had to have the rear bumper cover replaced. One good thing is the exaust got bent at the same time so I got the Mazdaspeed exaust installed by her insurance company. But, since then, my car has also been perfect. I have 27K miles of trouble free driving 60 miles each day to work and back. 80-85mph, 20mpg, 1 quart of oil every 1800 miles.

Glad to hear it does well in Vegas heat - I lived there for a while and learned what 116 degrees could do to anything plastic....
I used to make a monthly run from Vegas to San Francisco - found rental cars could not be trusted but the little Mazda 323 was dependable.
So far the new blue 8 is better than expected, good milage, and the only trouble was a small mouse who found the firewall too desirable! Please keep us posted about your car - it gives me hope for mine!

I'm telling you
I even heard about someone's visor melting...
Are you kidding me
I park my car outside in 110-130 degrees
(garage is being used only by the house onwer i'm paying a rent to)
Although the leather seats get pretty FUReaking hot
but after I sit down and turn on the AC, It goes away quickly.
HAha winfree
that was the whole point of my thread.
you hit the jackpot
to keep other fellow rx8 hopes alive
i will fight through curse of the silver for my fellow sunlight silvers and
burning degrees of Vegas Sun for my fellow 8ters
My baby and I will continue to run today and tomorrow
together
