If I LOSE one more BEEPING race....help experts!

ARGHHH! All my years racing around and shifting quickly, no car has frustrated me like my beloved 2006 GT.

WHAT IS THE FRICKIN' SECRET TO CONSISANT FAST 1st-TO-2nd GEAR SHIFTS WITHOUT GRINDING?

I learned right away in 2006 you can't pull the shifter at a slight angle toward you when shifting. GRIND!

I learned you have to pull the shifter STRAIGHT down. Trouble is, sometimes I still grind, especially if I shift FAST and at real high RPM's.

EXPERTS: What's the secret? I get the jump off the line then end up embarrassed when GRIND...................????

I use a slight angle when I shift to 2nd... maybe your tranny is shot from trying to race every minivan off the line.

Redline oil...will try.

And nope on the tranny abuse. I rarely race. Oh, I drive aggressively but when I do race I fear the grind because the thing is so sensitive. In my 3-years I probably have 6 grinds and the timing of some TICK ME OFF. Like yesterday's G35. Had him off the line and then GRIND...then the lane ended. CRAP!

Why would your drag lane end so early? Go to a new track, that will probably help you out.

To go faster you must slow down. Brake later, accelerate sooner, give yourself more time to get into the next gear. Time is made in the corners, not during shifts.

If I catch you street racing in your 8, I'll personally steal your engine from you.

Might not have anything to do with the transmission. I'm leaning more towards an electrical problem.

Are you sure the car is running at the required 1.21 gigawatts?

Yes, I think you are 100% correct. On my past cars (Mazda Protege's, 323 and '82 Rx7) I could shift super fast and in one tug. This tranny doesn't like that into 2nd. It's almost like I have to shift in 2 movements.....1st to middle and down into 2nd. Like a pa-pa movement.

Yes. 1.22GW. High output alternator.

Also don't forget to turn the flux capacitor to 11.

^soooo that the way your supposed to do it

i always thought 1st gear was to push down on the shift, and go all way to the right then down...i heard that the best way to launch was to rev to 9k and SLOWLY feather the clutch

Sounds about right for 2nd gear IME. IT has almost double the RPM drop then all the other gears do, so you just got to give it time for the syncros to line up and it will drop in like butter. You'll be letting the revs drop from 9K to about 6.5 anyways for a smooth transition, so make use of that time by shifting slower. Do it right and it should feel like you just got picked up by a tsunami that's pushing you through second gear. You shouldn't loose much time either.

No your problem is you're living in 2004 and still think your 8 has a chance against a G35.
