im going to break something...

how much does the clear housing for the rear, passenger side tail light cost?

Just the clear housing. I don't think it's cracked or anything.

long story short, its got paint scratches on it... GODDAMN IT.

Heres the final product after toothpaste application. Hm... I feel better now. :

<EDIT>
Screw it... I just went outside and took some pictures of it in the dark (after I scrubbed it with alcohol). I'll take some more tomorrow so that you guys can get a clearer picture.

what the heck were you doing to it?
Not sure if you can get JUST the clear housing but check with Paul @ Mazmart.

Its just one part as far as I know.

If I were you, I would just buy a used one off of e-bay. I got one about a year ago for 35 dollars plus a small shipping fee. This is probably your best bet. Second best is mazmart. I am sure they could get you one, but probably not for as cheap as one off of e-bay.

Do you have any pictures of it? It might even be repairable, at least worth a shot before buying a new one.

goddamn it. i just noticed a small cut to the rear. just a small cut, but a cut nonetheless. damage estimates?

<EDIT> forgot to mention that the flash was ON, so it might look uglier than it actually is. (which is still pretty ugly)

AEKJWHUHR&Y#@&Y. T____T... thanks guys.

replace taillights, can probably find a used one on ebay.

for the bumper, either touch it up or repaint. you're choice. a bodyshop can probably spot paint it but it might get pricey for just that small section.

Can't you just rub it off with car wax or something? One time I got a minor scratch with paint on my mitsu and I used a bit of car wax....and it came right off... Not sure if it would work on yours..........

another way is that.........you can soak a clean cloth with a bit of gasoline... just a lil bit....and rub it off....... gasoline disolves paint.....but it's not as strong as paint thinner. This is a risky way though...you gotta becareful handling gasoline...and DO NOT SMOKE WHILE YOU"RE DOING IT!!! And only do this on your tail-light...not on that scratch on the car's body. You don't want the body paint to come off. seriously! Use car wax instead! And wash it down with water when you're done!

these are just my suggestions..... do it at your own risk though. I don't want to be responsible for any damage...haha! So if you can afford it, just buy a new housing, it's the safest way!

I would try to polish out the scratches as best you can. Clean off anything that isn't your paint. You might be able to completely get rid of the paint/scrathces on the tail light. The bumper doesn't look too bad, but its hard to tell what is just paint and what is a scratch. My guess is that it probably isn't nearly as bad as it looks right now. Just get some polishing compound and lightly buff off the paint and see where that gets you. Then you can decide where to go from there as far as a replacing the tailight and fixing the bumper.

took a plastic wool cloth (normally used to wash dishes) and some rubbing alcohol.

got most of the paint off. will post pictures of it tomorrow when the natural light is up. looks much better now though. (as far as I can tell in the dark)

was really cautious with the plastic wool cloth... I remember I used a metal wool cloth (sheeps wool?) and went in circles around another paint chip I had. SCREWED the living HELL out of the fender.

Now get some scrubing compound and a buffer at the end of a drill.

Becarful if you buff too long the plastic heats up and deforms.

If you are not mechanical, have someone else do it.

There are plastic polishes out there that work great for head and taillights. Be careful with a buffer though, it doesn't take much to melt that plastic.
