"I'm happy to say your car is perfectly fine, sir"

How weird is this—bought my 8 over a year ago and today, almost 9K miles later, the CEL has never come on! Took it in a few months ago for the emissions recall and—are you sitting down—everything checked out fine!!! I didn't even need a new engine—what's up with that???! Wait, it gets even weirder! I've never had any loss of power, no marbles in a can sound effects, no squeaky brakes and, get this—I average 18-21 mpg! The car's not perfect—I DO have that slimy, cappucino-colored oil in the dipstick when it's cold. Good thing, too! I was starting to think I don't have an RX-8!!!

Look
until you swap your engine, you will NEVER be a REAL rx-8 owner. You better go put some bleach in your tank or some synthetic oil in your engine or something.

poser.

The marbles in the can sound...does that come from the engine? Reason I ask is that I took the car in a while back for the engine check to determine if I need an new engine...it checked out fine. But I have been hearing a strange noise from the car particularly on take off in first gear. Maybe the sound was always there and I have just now noticed it. I thought the sound was a clutch problem at first but It does not make the noice when letting out the clutch without reving the engine like on normal take offs.

Whats wrong with that? My 05 is at 16k miles has been in 1 serious accident and other than that the only problem I have ever had with it is my brake fluids being a tiny bit low. That and after the spark plug recal my city mileage is now 18 with my highway sitting between 22-24

What do you have to do to get the slime on the dipstick? I've checked my oil hot when I've stopped for gas, cooled off 5 or 10 minutes after parking, and dead cold after the car has sat overnight. Just ordinary oil.

I'm starting to feel left out. All I have to cling to is the single P0455 code, which never had the courtesy to return after I tightened the gas cap.

Well, I used to be in the "no problems" club, but I just hit my first serous problem: one screw won't come off on the back license plate!!!! Horrors! Happily, they are fixing it under warranty.
