I killed a duck once with a pellet gun so when used right it could hurt you pretty bad.

Who sells pellets in your area? Stop by and ask some questions, can't hurt.
I just noticed you live in Mass, don't you have some strict gun laws up there?

I'd probably play detective and make a mold of the dent. Hopefully a negative would point right to the shooters location.

Dude that sucks, like some said before I'd play detective, ask around. Wont hurt. I dont think you have enough to go off of to file a police report but at least alert them and let them know that there is some one going around vandalizing your car (and possibly others). Sams Club I'd agree with or Best Buy both have great electronics to choose from. Best of luck trying to catch this person.

As others have said narrow down who it could be checking out the houses on the side where you were hit. Couldn't hurt to ask around. If you know any of them have dumbass teenagers talk to the parents first.

If you get hit again after asking around you know you pissed someone off and will have your suspects very narrowed down.

Looking at that dent I would agree.

I parked my previous car on the street one night in front of our house and it got keyed. I suspected the local kids who wander around at all hours so I went straight to their houses and asked if anyone had seen anything and told them what I was going to do to the person when I caught them. I didn't catch who did it but I have parked on the street since then with no trouble.

Yeah ask around, then camp out on your roof waiting to see someone come out.

bassy,

If I were you, I would work like a detective. Go around to neighbors who have cars outside and ask them if they have had the same thing happen.

Call the police and see if there have been similar reports in the area. You could also file a police report (if you haven't done so already). If there are enough reports, police may step up their presence in the area and scare these punks off.

This could be kids driving around shooting random cars or it could be someone targeting you specifically.

I had something similar happen a few years back where some kids were going out egging people's cars. **** fucked up my clear coat and paint thanks to the summer sun.

Also, if the shots are in the same location, check to see if someone could shoot your car from a nearby house.

Setting up cameras probably won't help unless the perpetrators are within 35 feet of the camera, otherwise you probably won't capture enough detail to see who it is.

Keep in mind that that door panel is aluminum, so the dent doesn't really show *that* much power. Certainly enough to hurt someone, but it's not nearly as much as it would take to do that to steel.

But that also make it more costly to fix, since the ****** hit one of the expensive aluminum body panels.

Do you see any dead squirrels or birds around your neighborhood, like an ******* kid might shoot with a pellet gun?

I thought the suicide doors were steel? They are heavy like steel and I don't think aluminum would dent like that.

Nah, the hood and rear doors are aluminum. So don't let anyone sit on the hood of your car, not even hot women. Aluminum is stronger than steel in some ways, but it will dent or puncture much more easily.

Thanks for all of your advice, guys.

I did file a report on-line with the local police department. A police sergeant replied with the usual questions, like, whether I have any problems with an ex-girlfriend, coworkers, etc. I told him I got no problem with anyone, including my neighbors. He also let me know that I'm the only one on my street that got this problem. He only suggested that I call the police if I see neighborhood kids with bb guns.

Directly across from my house is a family with 2 little kids, about ages 5 and 7. I don't think it's them that did it because it happened both times either very late at night or very early in the morning. I don't think their parents would let them out during those hours. I think it's more like a drive-by shooting.

I think the suicide doors are aluminum, like how someone has pointed out. Is that gonna make it more costly to repair than a steel door? I called dent wizard to see whether they could fix it, but they said no. They said I would have to get it fixed by a body shop. Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to fix it? Will they have to drill it, pull it out, then put bondo on it? I've tried my best to keep my car ding and dent free, as well as its original paint, but now I have to deal with this bs.

I do want to install some surveillance cameras, but my house is kind of high up and set back a bit from the curbside. Here's a pic:

So, I don't know what kind of camera would work best. By the way, that's basically the same spot where I always park my car.

I think I may have to put the camera high up on one of the brick columns so that all the trees and shrubs won't be in the line of sight.

This has been a real headache for me. I just hope something bad will happen to this ******. I do believe in Karma. And yes, she can be a real bitch.

I work at a paint shop for a body shop. Guestimate price would be at least at least $700. There is a lot of labor because we have to sand both doors to blend it properly.

hide the cameras in the bushes or in a fake rock or something. Get a few different angles going. You'll need cameras that are either low light or night vision type.

Are there any rice boys around on the block? Even some where down the street? Some young moron with a coffee can civic is probably jealous.

Yeah, but how much detail would they capture at night? I doubt these turkeys are shooting cars in broad daylight.

Ask the family living across the street if they would mind it if you installed a camera watching your car in their yard.
