I'm sorry I sold my RX-8...
It's been about 6 months since I sold my '04 RX-8, and I miss it...
I bought it used about a year and a half ago as an "interim" car. I had an '04 Infiniti
G35 Coupe which I absolutely loved - except for the uncomfortable seats, which were designed for a 5'4" 130 lb Japanese driver, not a 6'0" 200 lb American. I knew the revised G37 was coming, with an upgraded interior. I had a good offer on the G35, so I sold it. I needed something to drive in the meantime, so I bought a gorgeous 2004 RX-8, only had 10k miles, in absolutely new condition. I drove it for a year, and loved it. I had one of the original RX-4's back in the early 1980's, and a Suzuki RE-5 wankel motorcycle in the 1970's, and the RX-8 brought back all those wonderful screaming rotary memories.
I drove the RX-8 for a year, put about 8,000 miles on it. It was one of those rare cars that just felt special. I'm a hard core car nut, I've owned 96 cars in my life, and the RX-8 was one of the most fun of them all. It was just a blast to drive, I loved every minute of it...
Then, the Infiniti G37 I ordered so long ago arrived last October. I thought about cancelling the G37 order and keeping the RX-8. But, I had waited so long, and talked myself into the G37 so much, that I went ahead and sold the RX-8 and bought the G37.
The G37 is a very nice car. But quite honestly, after 6 months and 5,000 miles, I liked the RX-8 better. It was a lighter, more tossable, flingable, involving car. I felt more a part of the car than the G37. Every drive in the RX-8 was fun, special, and I looked forward to it. The G37 is comfortable, luxurious, refined, but, somehow just not as innvolving as the RX-8, and not worth twice the price. Even though the G37 is objectively a "better" car - more power, greater refinement, and better gas mileage all in one - it just doesn't feel like the true driver's car that the RX-8 is.
If only the gas mileage on the RX-8 was a little better. It's hard to swallow 15 mpg average in an age of $3.50/gal gas. But I don't care. I'll be back..... The G37 will be sold, and I'll get another RX-8. It is truly a very special car, there is nothing else like it on the road.

Sorry 2 hear how "un-Zooming" the G37 is.......I @ 1 time did want the G35 "ALMOST" more than the RX-8, but I thought about everything that both cars had 2 offer.....and after debating with myself back and forth 4 weeks, sumthing about the RX-8 jst won me over. And judging from what u have said about the G35/G37 I'm glad I made the right choice!! But we will all be awaiting ur return with an RX-8 that u will be happy with!

i work on g35's all the time. the paint sucks on them IMO and they really are nothing more than fancy nissan altima's.... (ew) they do have some torque, but i would take the 8 any day over those

I sold mine about 2 months ago and miss it as well. I loved being able to shift at 6k and not worry about blowing the motor. Its definitely a far cry from the 04 Ranger that i bought with the 3.slow However, I literally cut my payment in half, took 2 years off my loan and eliminated almost 6k in debt at one time. Not something I wanted to do, but I did what I had to do.

I can relate. I'd test driven an RX-8 and loved it. Then talked myself into buying the more "sensible" car (used G35), since it had 4 doors, more room, etc. (wife was pregnant).
6 months later, i hated the G35, traded it in on RX8, haven't regretted it for a second.
Although they're often cross shopped, they really have very little in common. The G35, is much more a luxury cruiser type car, closer to a German luxury sedan while the RX8 leans much more towards 2 seater sports car (S2000, Miata, etc). For me, the RX8 was the perfect compromise as it had a similar feel to smaller, rawer cars but still is suitable as a daily driver and you can fit a child seat in the back.

I had also narrowed it down to a G35 or a 8. I had to have a back seat. I drove a 05 g35 6 speed 1 hour before I drove the 8. To me they are totally different. The G is a great car but I was disappointed in just how easy it drove. It wasn't much different than my Maxima. When i drove the 8, i felt like it was much more raw and performance based. Much more fun. For the $ the 8 is tough to beat.

You should post this on g35 forum and check out the responses. ![Wink](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
The G coupe was a finalist on my books. Looks great and sounds great. Z was too cheap inside. But alas, the G coupe felt heavy and despite the VQ mid-range punch it was just another big coupe. The 8 was far more involving. No regrets on my end.
recently checked out the mkII G, while the interior is much better than mkI, I can detect some cheap plastics especially the centre faux silver panel console. It looked like what seems to be swirls on it. Not my liking.

Me too! I thought the G35 was over priced. 38k
Especially when compared to the Z. Now lets add two more doors. 48k What the fxxk!
that made me realize you don't get what you expect out of a Nissan.
