installing OEM fogs on sport model with no fogs

Hey guys, I own an 05 sport model 8 with no fogs. I found a grand touring for parts in my neighborhood and I wanna know if it is possible to install the oem fogs onto my 8. If so, all I know so far is that I need
1- both fogs and the ballasts
2-the light switch with the fog light switch
Is there anything else I need from the car?

the relay, the wiring harness. Yes it can be done, but you will need both lights complete, the relays, the wiring harness, the fuses. are you talking about an added on switch or the stock turn signal bar with fog light switch?

Wrong. Fogs were an option on the Sport and standard on Grand Touring. I have an 05 sport without fogs as well.

Do you really need all that stuff? I was under the impression that all rx8's were "wired up" so all you need to do is take the bumper off and hook them up + put the fog light switch/turn signal in.

Mine is a 6 speed with the OEM spoiler being the only option. I don't have the fog lights base model is the automatic, right?

On the 04 Sport model, they were standard. There was a base model that had halogen, as appose to xenon, headlamps that didn't have them.

You are correct. It's direct plug and play with just the lights themselves and the new signal stalk with the switch. I just installed OEM fogs on my car last weekend, the plugs and wires are already there and they work fine. That kit on ebay is similar to the one I purchased.

Lebren kit is awesome. Very easy install if you know how to remove your tool set and the plastic piece that holds it (not absolutely necessary but helpful).

On my 04, which came without fogs, I simply bought the OEM fogs and everything else was already in the car and they worked perfectly as soon as I plugged them up. No need for fuse, relay, switch, wiring, nothing.

So you didn't have to get the turn signal/fog light switch? How do you control them?

Are you sure you really want 'em? My '05 has them and, like with any car sold in America, they're effectively useless.

As you know, real fog lights would be used, in fog, with the headlights off (since even low-beam headlights reflect too much light back when it's foggy). These won't work unless the headlights are on – defeating the whole purpose. As far as adding "extra" light in non-fog conditions, the difference is so small it's hardly worth it.

I've thought of rewiring to make them work independently of the headlights, but the thread that "explains" how to do that is so long, so rambling and so confusing that by the time I figured it out, it would be time to sell the car. (It's also precisely the kind of thread that makes people NOT want to search for information.)

Yea the foglight rewire was my plan. I didn't think the thread was too bad, but it has been forever since I really looked into it.

Hey guys thanks for all your help. I popped off the panel and found the fog light harness taped to other wires. I picked up the 2 fogs and blinker wand and just installed it. I thought it would increase my visibility more that this

The switch was already there. It's on the turn signal stalk.

Someone nicely summerized that thread I think with like 3 pics. I did it couple weeks ago...took all of 2 minutes, tops. It's a no-brainer once you look at what's required...a snip, a piece of tape, and a wire splice. Go for it...
