Question Instrument Cluster Replacement Mazda Tech Help?????????

I finally convinced my dealer to replace my cluster since the oil pressure was fluxuating High then Low and then no oil pressure, but that was several other threads. Today my question to the people at Mazda Dealerships who are members of this forum, is there no way to get the cars previous mileage into the display of the new dash. My dealer says Mazda only has a sticker that is placed on the car showing the old displayed mileage. I was wondering if they are not currently up to date with the proper equipment to perform the task of reprograming. I know a lot of you are going to say it would be easy to reprogram used cars to change the mileage, therfore tampering. But there are ways that Mazda could send down one time only authorizations that expire to computer equipment after the programing was complete. The technology is there why not put it to use, if it is not already available?
Just a little note. Since the car is my wifes ride, I don't drive it but ocasionally, and Sunday I noticed that the gauges seemed a little brighter, so I mentioned to my wife; it appears as if you could just reach out and touch the needles and sure enough you could! The tech replacing the gauges didn't bother to put the tinted covers back on the gauges. Also, the gear indicator isn't working on AT mode only Manual mode. So I have to get another cluster replacement and a different milage once again!
What a Cluster F**K!
