Intake = more gas saved?
Hi, I was just wondering if any of you with cold air intake notice any difference in gas consumption? I just got my car 3 days ago and i've only driven it to work and back home, which is about 5 miles both ways and alrdy the gas is half empty.. With gas prices being high as hell, I'm up for anything that will save me some $ so that I can actually have a life instead of working just to pay car payments and school.. Thanks a lot!
p.s. i love the car!

I have had mine for 5 months and 12k miles. I do not have aftermarket parts but as with other cars I have had, the best way to get good mileage is to not do full throttle redline shifts all the time. Which I do, and will continue to do, since its fun, and it seems pointless to make the payments if I cant.

Stop and go kills the mileage. Especially with full throttle launches. I do rev my engine occassionally (yes I do enjoy the beep) and once or twice a week I'll zip through a favorite back road full of twisties, but in everyday driving I try and keep a nice steady speed by avoiding routes with stop lights and by shifting around 4k rpm (not religiously, but most of the time). I generally get about 19 mpg in mixed driving. Not great, but not horrible either.

That is the purpose of the MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) If it detects more air coming in then it will increase fuel to maintain correct air/fuel ratios. Generally CAI will increase the amount of air being sucked into the engine so there will be a corresponding increase in fuel usage
