We only have 95 and 98 here, which is equivelent to your 91 and 93 I guess, but AFAIK it's also lower in some other European countries. And btw 1 litre of 95 costs 2.57 dollars here now. That's like 9 dollars per gallon, now that's gas prices, eventhough we produce a lot more oil and gas than we use ![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Hey neXib, actually we also have 100 octane gas here in Europe, from BP (www.bp.com) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating), and even 102 octane being trialled in the UK atm. And apparently it does really good for the 8 engine, heard from the local mazda dealer that you should use 1-2 full deposits of 100 octane in between every 10 deposits of regular gas (95 or 98) "to clean up the engine". If this is true or not, I do not know.

Yeah I think I've heard of 99 or 100 octane when I think about it. Only in one gas station in Oslo I think in my country. Shell station I believe. But I heard that the Renesis doesn't actually benefit from high octane, so 95 should be fine. No idea what's true though.

high octane is safest to run on all conditions. With North America's geographical diversity, it makes sense to recommend 91+ oct. to avoid engine knock --> kaboom in hot climates like Vegas or Florida. Also high octane helps in high altitude places like Colorado. More load going up hill.

I have heard only bad stuff about 8s and alcohol - regretble as we produce a lot of HOOCH around here...
I have a 20 year old Mazda "great little car" runs good and engine looks almost new because of premium and moble 1 - too bad that oil is not approved for 8s!
Premium not $4.15 per gallon at Exxon and worse at other stations up to $4.55
A Senator during a hearing about 3 days ago said prices are awful because of De-regulation of controls on commodity markets - but no one has suggested repealing the de-regulation - ENRON, over priced electricity, and bad mortgages all circle back to de-regulations.......

The more you drive and the worse you gas mileage, the more a few cents can really add up into something considerable. Truckers would kill for a measely 5% improvement in economy or prices as they drive huge amounts each year. Conversely the person who only drives 10,000 miles a year won't really feel even a considerable price hike or lowered efficiency. A few cents has different implications to different people.
My cousin is a trucker. The only reason he hasn't flipped out yet is because the loads he delivers are usually expedited and they ( the companies he delivers to) pay fuel surcharges
