There really isnt a "good" FM transmitter. They're considered the worst way to get sound to your speakers.
If you have the money, buy the audiolink from www.therpmstore.com.

If you don't have the money and/or really want the FM transmitter.. griffin technology makes some of the better ones.

Why spend $200+ dollars on an iPod just to have it sound like **** in your car? Get the Audiolink. You can get a refurbed iPod from Apple to save some money and put it towards the audiolink. http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...cialdeals/ipod

FM transmitters arent the best way to go but the most convenient especially if u are like me and trade it between multiple cars. there really isnt a best 1 there are decent ones but the sound is always gonna be off and if u run your AC u will get a buzzing noise. on another forum a guy had his AC compressor replaced 4 times because he though it was making the buzzing noise till i asked if he used a FM transmitter for his ipod i got a good laugh out of it lol

In order of worst to best it goes:
1. FM transmitter (lineout or headphone jack to mini FM transmitter)
2. FM modulater (lineout or headphone jack to antenna interupt)
3. Cassette adapter (headphone jack to adapter)
4. Stereo out to Line in (headphone jack to line in on HU)
5. Line out to Line in (audiolink, OEM mazda ipod connector, Pie, etc)

I have an iTrip that plugs into the iPod connector instead of the headphone port. This is supposed to be better. It sounds fairly decent, and definitely good for the money.

It also charges the iPod while it is playing.,

If you do get one, make sure you get one that you can select the station. Before I got my Audiolink installed. I had a Monster one that only had 6 pre-set stations. Sucked! I still have it if you wan't to buy it.

I have an iTrip nano that we use on the iPod nano, and I like it, mainly because the combined size of the iTrip/iPod is small enough to sit on the little shelf in front of the LED display for the stereo (with some double-stick tape to hold it in place for corners . It seems the positioning is key to getting a good signal, and so a regular large-size iPod plus transmitter give you a more limited choice of locations to safely stick it (hint... the glovebox and center console give you a crappy signal).

That's the one I have and the best one IMO. Better than iTrip.

I love how, with my iTrip, I have the iTrip plugged into the power outlet in the arm rest cubby, with the cable that plugs into the ipod running through the little spot, with my iPod in the cup holder. Don't even have to hide the iPod when parking, just close the cup holder.

Ditto on the Monster FM transmitter. I have it too, and it does a decent job. The real question will be how densely populated is your area? Around here, just about every available channel on the FM dial is taken by a station, so there are relatively few choices when it comes to finding empty channels to use. As a result, everybody and their damn brother with an Ipod and a satellite radio uses the same frequency, so you tend to get interrupted alot as they drive by.

The only reason I haven't gone with an Audiolink or other similar device is that I've heard the controls to access your music is a PITA. If there was one that let you use the Ipod itself to control it, I'd be all over it. I anyone knows of one, I'd be happy to hear about it.

The audiolink allows you to control the Ipod from the Ipod itself
