Itching to get a new car.... any of you on the same boat?
Fellas, after 2 years of great driving with my 8, i find myself looking more and more into other cars.
Dont get me wrong, i love the car to death and as much as i would love to get a new car right now, it just wont happen. I have an 06 lease is up in 2010 so i still have some time with her.
But the appeal of the 8 is wearing for me, i guess ive done everything i can do short of Turbo to make the car something i can call my own.
I think I will be stepping upto a C63 AMG when my lease is over. After driving one of my co-workers C63's im just in awe of the power of the car.
any of you feel the love with the 8 fading as well?

My interest is fading, only cuz I'm not modding at all. Haven't done anything worthwhile in almost a year. If i can't mod, it gets boring. Hopefully I'll fix that soon. I don't plan to let go of this car anyways.

I think the allure of the 8 is going, many more "kids" have the cars now. Since they are sub 20 Grand here in Canada now for an 04/05, i have been seeing them alot more. Granted they are all bone stock.
I am toying with the idea of boosting the car, but I know in 2 years it will be going back, not sure if its worth it for me.

It's not that i'm looking for a different car however I AM looking for ANOTHER car with some hight torque and HP numbers to take to the track etc.....but keeping the 8 for the smoothness of the rotary and the uniqueness of the vehicle

So before she goes back she will be returned to stock (for the most part) only thing i wont be able to take off will be the side skirts as they are moulded to the car.

You have to admit, it's a little ridiculous to compare the C63 AMG and the RX-8 in any way. Obviously, if we could all afford one of those, we'd be driving them. 451hp versus 232hp; not really much of a comparison. Though, I would hesitate to get one myself, since any performance car without a clutch bores me. I'd probably go for the 09 M3 personally. And it looks like you have an AT 8 anyway, maybe that's why you're getting bored with it...

That's why you see so many of the "great part out" threads in the for sale forum. Peoples lease expires. Then they have to convert back to stock for the hand off. I guess I understand but I don't think I would go that route.
Take care,

+1 to that.
But going to something as drastic (price and power) as a new Benz AMG? Hey if u can swing it more power to you.
I havent gotten bored with the 8 yet, has been 2 yrs. Sometimes i wish i owned MORE cars, but never a different car in place of my 8

Fellas, I do realize that comparing the 8 to the C63 is extreme, however my finances over the past years have changed, ofcouse like all other things tastes have changed as well. 2 Years ago, the 8 was in my price range, now the C63 is within reach, ofcourse I will look into a little more higher end vehicles.
Like i said, dont get me wrong i love the 8 and will be keeping it for the 2 years again (as mentioned before I would loose a ton if i got rid of it now)
LOL! I Love Part outs too good opportunity to get in on some good mods for decent prices, but she wont be parted until 2010.
I think NGO hit it on the head, I havent been modding for a few months now, guess im getting bored. I would love to turbo the car, but its not worth it anymore, not with only 2 years left on the lease.

You're eventually going to be bored with anything you get, short of exotics, if you keep buying sports cars without true manual transmissions. Do yourself a favor and make sure the next car you purchase has a MT available. None of that semi-automatic sequential tiptronic dual clutch electrohydraulic e-gear f1 style paddle shifter garbage, but a real manual. You'll have a lot more fun driving every time you get in your car, and you'll learn to really appreciate what sports cars are capable of.
