Heres a tip from someone in the service business, the dealer has nothing to do with what is covered in a warranty and what is not. Believe me, the OEM's will use a lot of excuses to prevent paying claims. Why? because warranty claims are 'pure cost/waste' to the OEM. Next time the dealer tells you the repair on your RX8 cannot be covered.....believe me, that is Mazda talking. Dealers are well aware of the difficulty in getting repairs covered and the bureaucracy involved, so they rarely take chances on modded vehicles.

Now, not all dealers are honest....obviously they can make more money off a customer when the cost of parts is included with the labor. So they lie and tell you it's not covered, get you to pay the full bill and then turn around and submit a claim to the OEM. The only thing you can do is avoid these dealers.

that's not entirely true.. some dealer mechanics actually know wtf they are doing and tell mazda what really is wrong rather than some line of BS cause they are lazy and ignorant..

True.....OEM's do learn a lot from experienced individuals in the dealer network. Here at Ford we rely heavily on the dealers......they are a great asset. However, dealers cover repair costs out of their own pocket and then submit warranty claims to the OEM's on a monthly/quarterly basis. They rarely take the risk of covering a repair on a modded car that they feel might hinder their ability to recover the cost through the OEM. It's just good business sense to be cautious in a system that is designed to reduce warranty costs. If you work in the auto industry, warranty costs are a huge burden. Anything they can do to reduce spending in this area is pursued.

It sounds like you are in the business.......are you at the dealer level?
