You don't have to leave the board just because the car is different. Check in from time to time.

You should have bought a STI and even saved yourself more money. I went from from a WRX to a RX8. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.

How would he have saved more money by buying a more expensive STI? Also, with the changes to the '06 WRX it's a much better car than previous models, and if you're not a track junkie the WRX is probably the better buy compared to the STI.

Seems strange that you get rid of the 8 for financial reasons but aren't hesitating to dump mod money into the WRX, just saying

Took the plunge yesterday guys. All I can say is WOW! This thing is FAST! I fell in love with the second I drove it. I thought I was getting a TR WRX, but it turns out I got the upscale version with all the goodies. 6 disk CD changer, spoiler, side skirts, rear view with auto dim and home-link, performance front seats, auto climate control, fog lights and an spt muffler. All for $24,600. It was about $300 under invoice, so it's friggn' awesome. I'll post some pics in the general auto thread for you guys. I miss my 8, but damn this thing ROCKS!

BTW, I'll take that name change now.

tried to add it all up in my head but it doesnt make much sence to me! How much were your payments on your 8? Had to have been way high! What are your payments now? Did you give a DP on your 8? Confusion...

I was being sarcastic. He traded a year old car for a new one to save money. Why not buy a more expensive car and save even more. I hope on the 06s that Subaru did something with that 5 speed. The first gear in mine used to drive me crazy.

What drove you crazy about it and what year did you have?

Wow, that's roughly what I paid for my new RX8 6-speed a couple years back... you must've had a loaded RX8 to get lower payments on an '06 WRX (or did you go with a longer loan period?)

Anyway, enjoy the new ride!

Enjoy.
Than it wont be able to be used in the WRC, rules say it must be a 2.0L engine.

Yeah, because I'm sure he was planning on turning his new car into a WRC car

I had a 2002. I had to be about at a dead stop to get it into first without double clutching. From the WRX site, other owners said that this was normal for a 2002.

It's normal with a lot of cars. I could usually downshift into mine ('03) if I was under 20mph but other people had problems. The tranny on the '06 is certainly smoother so I wouldn't be surprised if it's better, also the need to downshift into first is greatly reduced with the 2.5L in there. 2,000 RPMs and above and you're good with the new WRX.

I had a 2002 WRX wagon, I loved it at first, but lost the love over the following months of rattles, tranny issues and uncomfortable seats. I now drive an 05 RX-8 GT, though not quite as fast as my WRX I think it's a more enjoyable owner experiance... and the 8 is Gorgeous!

You'll find my 8 at Austin Subaru. Still has everything I added, like wheels and other goodies. Hope who ever gets her will take care of her like I did.
