jerk/pause at over 4000 rpm

as you know i bought my rx8 before 2 weeks.

when i drove it the first few times i notice when i was going over 4000 rpm a small jerk/small pause in all gears. because i was driving in a rough road i thought that it was loosing traction, but after i drove it in the highway and during a redline you can really feel the pause.

i'm thinking it maybe happens when the other 2 ports open and causing this pause, but i need to know if you have the same pause.

its a 6 speed manual.

I guess its a used rx-8 right ?

where do you live ? mileage on the car ? what gas u use? oil weight and when was the last time u change it? Have you ever change your filter/plugs/coils/wires ?

Make sure your not letting go of the clutch too soon

But I'll have problems days that the car doesn't wanna change gears, all I do is just double clutch it and everythings good

i bet the clutch is worn lol... just one of the possible problem though, plugs, coils, wires all have to be checked. if it bogs as u go higher and higher in rpm, it could be the cat.

this happened to me when i first got the car... the car was sitting for a while before that. I simple let the car warm up... patiently kept it under 3000 rpms with teh headlights adn ac on... then I gunned it and redlined it and kept it over 7k for about 2 min or so... problems solved.... cat was gunked up a bit.

i also sprayed the crap out of my map sensor as well. i recommned both. of course do an oil change as well if you havent already

i live in cyprus, europe. 42000 km, 98 octane, 10w40(mobil 1 semi synthetic) and i changed it before 1 week with new oil filter. air filter is clean and it has new plugs and wires from x owner with receipts.

NO CHECK ENGINE AND NO LIGHTS.

i don't change gear when is doing it. is doing it in all gears at about 4000 rpm + and is doing always at the same rpm and same pattern.

any ideas?

usually a worn clutch tends to slip under load, where it would go from say 4500rpm to 4250 and back up, and back down and back up and back down.

just to make clear.

this <<problem>> happens only ones at the same rpm in all gears. it doesn't happen again after that or before.

is not my daily driver. is only for weekends so maybe sitting for 5 days is giving me this problem???????????

so drive in 3rd, step on it, if you're not pulling hard and it feels like its slipping or revving too high for the speed... likely clutch.

dont shift to 4th, but ease off the throttle and do it again..

another test ppl do for clutches is stop, put it in 5th or 6th and see if u can let the clutch out while giving it gas without it stalling.

is pulling hard in all gears with no slipping, but when it gets to 4000 rpm i have this millisecond pause and then continues to pull hard till 9500 rpm.

i gave my car to my girlfriend and she stall it a few times when she forgot to push the clutch and the car wanted to keep going so i pretty sure clutch is ok.

Could be one of the intake valves sticking, run some engine degunker thru there and see what that does, you'll have to run it with the engine at those rpms tho so that it does it's job right.

I think your right. The ports are sticking.

Try driving another RX 8 to confirm.
