JSG's Comparison With S2000 Summary-JSG pls chip in.
1.)sound/delivery of power/ultimate power
"intoxicating""sings to you"at high revs/constant-vtec more fun
kick/power band is broad
2.)brakes
still getting used to feel
3.)downshifting/location/vibration/clutch
have to be a better driver/a bit aft/have to accept more/dead zone-not the quickness
4.)dash at night
"rev counter to die for"-"instruments are stunning
5.)luxury & comfort vs. fun-to-drive
"more satisfying" but roadster more fun (but 8 very close)
6.)ease to drive
--8 inspires confidence
7.)audio
Autopilot works-"easily the best in-car system I've heard"
8.)MPG/oil changes
same/every 3K kms
9.)seats
no problem
10.)functionality
no comparison

My summary so far is that the S is outright more fun but the 8 is very good. The VTEC is more fun in the way a turbo is fun (although no lag and not so wildly out of control). What I mean is that the push in the back, sound and change of mood really puts a smile on your face. As the 8 is more linear it's fast but in a smooth manner (better for the track I guess) meaning you don't feel it's so fast. I enjoy the 8 but it doesn't have that "Yahoo!!" that the S does when you hit VTEC. With all the DSC etc I'm not so worried about driving it in the wet whereas the S was truly scary.
By the numbers I think the S should be slightly faster but I'm very interested in testing it against my friends - still have to organise seeing them. Need good weather.
I'm planning on taking the day off on Monday to take the car to the mountains without any other traffic around or family on board for a true petrol head day by myself with the car and the full rev range. I should have a better report then. At the moment my only real ongoing concern is the brake feel. I'm looking forward to windows down and listening to the high rpms bouncing off the mountain walls!
On other non-driving points. I hope people like the stereo but those things are so subjective to individual tastes I don't think I can speak for everyone.

Is the audio system good in YOUR opinion?

Hey don't get me wrong! I love the car. I just can't tell you it's better than a Ferrari 355 or an S2000. These cars are built for different purposes - I'm very happy with the 8 for what I want right now. A proper sports car with 4 seats for a decent price - not a modified sport sedan. It's about what you want for the time you're at in your life, what your budget is and what compromises you can accept for that. Some people will go for the EVO for more brute power (but ugliness). Some people will go for an M3 or M5, but these are more money. Some people will feel they can use the "back seat" of a 911. I'm enjoying the 8 very much - taking the day off on Monday just to drive it around all day - and think I've made the best choice for me. If you read my posts from when I took delivery I don't think you can say there was a lack of excitement!
